Just was given one of these last week as it was taking up space at work. Have any of you ever had to replace the recessed screws? At least one of mine has a stripped head, also former owner of this wonderful radio included the wrong power cord (Gem power cord). Still not able to blow nephew's mind with volume up full. Could it be the power cord and screws? First time refurbishing a radio.

As for the power cord, you can usually find one at a good thrift store. They come in several different shapes and sizes. Here's a thread about them that might help a bit:


They are all interchangeable to some degree. The one with the rounded corners and side notches is like the "omni" plug that will fit almost all plug holes.

The figure 8 cords are pretty universal as you state but the Sharp 777's & I think some Sony's have their own sizes that do not play nice with the others..lol..

I gave an absolutely mint condition 656 to my sisters in law parents as a gift....I should have kept it lol! They were not my favorite people but hey, hope they enjoyed it.
