?? asking all you 660 owners...........

are all yours made in singapore ?
or some counties other than japan ?

mine were from singapore --
which surprised me - :-O
because -- back then - all the aiwa brand goods were getting huge top dollar
--even more than sony brand stuff --
so -
there was no good reason to make them there

Yup,mine was made in Singapore as well Ira.
Back in Dec 1982 I have this sale ad and the Aiwa CS660 was on sale for $259.00. :-O

excellent review, enjoyed reading it.

i dont want to go off topic, but since the m70 seems somewhat of a benchmark in mid size bbx's, how would one compare to my marantz in sound quality?
(if anyone has heard both that is)

thanks

The review sounds about accurate.

However, it might not be an apple to apple comparison. :hmmm: The M70 is a 15 volt boombox. I forget if the Aiwa is a 12v or 13.5v box but I think a fairer comparision is to compare boxes with similar voltage requirements since voltage plays a major role in a boomboxes overall power output, which can affect things like Bass which draws a lot of current.

Very important point Superone

I have yet to hear an Aiwa unit, but I know it must be kicking. I've seen the 660 only a few times and thought they must sound good. Melly I salute you for such a comprehensive review. What does the 660 sound like recording onto a nice classic chrome like TDK SA? It's already been said, a lot of these boomers have excellent cassette decks built in.

Cheers

I have to say that on low volumes to mid volume the Stereo660 has
superb and deep bass with that DSL circuitry-beautiful sound!!
