In my line of work, a bird in the hand is always far better than 2 in the bush. 
So since the Pioneer is the only one that even truly exists, I'd say anything else, whether it's 4 amps, or 8 amps, or 16 speaker drivers, etc. is nothing but a whisper blowing in the wind, that can't ever be truly grasped.

i seem to remember someplace somewhere someone with a plasma torch cutting up some panny boxes and welding them together.
i think maybe if i think about it i can find the picture. could not find the picture. but the gist of it was a dude taking four panasonic boxes nice ones and weldied them all together with a plasma welder.
i also seem to remember him using this box. not other mods were done to it other than wiring the speakers up to the existing amp.
some other s2go guys might remember this.
it was kind of cool looking but i had mixed feeling about it. i mean you ruin a bunch of boxes to make one that is not overly functional. lol.
photo shop is perhaps a safer way to live out that fantasy..

As for portability it's all in the person carrying it!
I use a 40lb. dumbbell & it's to light-need to go to 45 or 50.
I could carry a 40.lb boombox around all day! Might switch hands once in a while but it's all good.
Remember I carried a PC55 all day when I gave my 8989II away in 85'!

All this takes me back a few years. When I was a newbie on ST2go, and I think Jens had a bunch of grails like this "photoshopped", and i didn't even realize it. I think all the newbies that year fell for it
