Hi Ford-I was watching it but it sold for 190.00 to somebody!
Mine isn't that bad-sure my eject button is scratched but other than that it's in really good shape.
BUT-I was looking-That guy wants way to much $ for some of his stuff.
I mean Man-55.00 + shipping for 1 antenna!!
What a jerk!!
That might be ok for both not 1!
He even wanted to begin with 279.00 for just the deck and that isn't working!!!! :nonono:
Now he dropped it to 189.00-that's at the point of being a crook!!
I don't like sellers like this-he had a M-90 that didn't work so he parts it out to get over a 1,000 for it.
I hope somebody tells this guy off or something.
I would love an antenna but not 1 for over 60.00!! :annoyed:
Have a good one-GB. :-)

I've commented before about us trashing sellers that ask TOO MUCH for their stuff. True, what that guy asked for was a lot of money. But I'd like to ask the members here: Do you think he should have set a buy it now price of $10 because that's what a nice guy would do? It's human nature to be greedy. We all like to buy stuff super cheap, and we all want as much as we can get when we sell. On this forum, I can see alot of times where members might take a hit just to sell to another member in the forum and forego the ebay arena. But I've also seen enough times when a member offers to sell something for a high price here but if the price isn't high enough, it goes ebay.

Look, our society is driven by supply and demand. We could ridicule the guy for wanting $55 + shipping per antenna. But he sold it. No wait, he sold 2 of them. No wait, he sold them both PLUS the overpriced front cabinet. There was a willing buyer for his rare goods. Apparently, demand exceeds supply. I think deep down, we'd like to think that the guy would sell it to you or me (who he doesn't know from Jack) for a discount out of the goodness of his heart. In reality, if he doesn't and get's his price, then quite frequently, the next move is to trash and ridicule the guy who paid the high prices.

Didn't we just have another topic today about how difficult is is to get decent prices on our goods?

Come on guys....... Once again I say.... YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS!

BTW, this is a general comment to all of us and not specific to GB so please don't take this personally.

partime22 = an ebay seller in the USA
he is ok :-)
imho --the US$ 190 plus s/h to the UK --
was WAY too much

WHO IS PARTTIME22?

Well, he's been selling on ebay for some time now. Your mileage may vary but let me just tell you about MY experience with him...

Sold me a Sanyo M9980 advertised as great condition, everything working, etc. etc.

Arrived. Discovered boombox with piece of the case missing from the plastic around the handle (seller oversight?) Seemed to work fine but sounded terrible. Cassette didn't work and had motorboating sound when activated. Opened it up to fix and found it grimy as heck. Speakers didn't look quite right so upon closer examination, found speaker wires twist tied around speaker terminals, and spliced, the bare splice had electrical tape wrapped so loose it already shifted down wire and wasn't even protecting the splice. Loosely twisted wire had poor connection leading to poor sound quality. Seemed like a micky mouse hack job. Why even cut and splice the speaker wires? I soon found out -- speakers were removed before and torn woofer cones were fixed with MASKING TAPE, then blackened with permanent marker. Flipping the cover around, I saw that the woofers and tweeters appeared to be sporting "chrome looking" dust caps. Upon closer examination, saw that the "chrome" dust caps were actually circular cutouts from aluminum duct tape and taped onto the speakers. At this point, I was getting mighty angry. Then saw that the retractable antenna (this antenna retracts completely into the radio) was held in place inside by lots of electrical tape. The mount was broken and 2 rolls of electrical tape held this in place. Obviously, this was not as described to the extent that it should be criminal. Asked for a partial refund. Was told this was forthcoming. Asked second time. He said OK. Asked 3rd time. He said yep. Asked 4th time, he said OK. In meantime, saw he listed another box, a Big Ben which I really wanted. Won the big ben and told him I was deducting the cost of a parts box I found ($21) from the total. He agreed and that's how this was resolved. Big ben was working but antennas weren't original. Seems working 100% and I'm afraid to look inside for fear of finding something that'll give me a coronary so that's the story. Would I buy from him again? NO WAY.

BTW, the irony of this is that the "parts" box I bought was in better condition than his and I ended up restoring the parts box instead and his 100% M9980 still sits here today -- don't know what I'll do with it because unlike PARTTIME22, I don't feel comfortable screwing anyone.
