Please, Chris, don't do that! There a very good reason you'd never heard of it; it's utter bollocks! Yes, it appears to work in a youtube clip but that's a brushless motor and it's completely sealed.
I agree with John!

I cannot get it! I was eye balling for a while.

Our motors are kind of sealed with a small hole for speed adj. Water entry will corrode the stator magnets and the rotor armature from trapped water and vapor. Also with water of lower pH (less than 7.0) will conduct, short circuit and won't make it run. If possible open the motor and service it. I've never opened a cassette motor but have opened so many other DC motors and serviced it. Main reason was that it was not easy to open without damaging the housing.

Almost all RC motors have brushes. Nobody said soak or run the motor for weeks in water. Become a RC forum member and read up. I guess it's possible 98% of those members just lied for fun cuz they got nothing better to do. But there sure are a lot of folks that have claimed to done this with success.

Btw, simply shaking off the wet motor and placing in sun or warm dry place will dry it very rapidly. I've heard of people putting entire stereo receiver chassis' into dishwashers to clean them and I know I've washed electronic chassis in soap/water many times with NO issues. Just because something is electronic does not mean it can't see water ever. Just don't try to power up anything until completely dry.

I will probably buy a used motor from someone and see how that goes. Maybe I will take the old motor and make a video of me dunking it in water, LOL.

I'll buy a mildly curried hat in readiness for looking at this!

Always remember, if you're going to wash your electronics do it while they are plugged in and while you are taking a shower!

I have had the 838 on 100% office duty running for about 9 hours straight every day. No problems with function or the LEDs. I'm happy I did it and I can't wait for the next project!

The LEDs look sharp & way cheaper than an AE kit so win/win.....you can use frosted scotch tape for a more diffused look. Just put about 3-4 strips of tape on top of the silicone skin to make it softer....BAM!!!
