Next, looking for the disco around that yellow record :ninja:

Disco up my VZ2000??!!?!...NEVER! :-O :-O :nonono: :-D
Do it up MAN!!! I would so totally pimp out that VZ with strobes, hydraulic shock absorbers, twin side pipes, neon, a cup holder, strap a fridge on the back. F yeah!! That thing is huge!!! I'd find a way to run a 7" dvd player off of it. =) Just paste the screen right in the front with the player side , folding open & down toward you.

I guess you better not sell me a VZ200, I guess. *joke*

Wow, really?...if so that's pretty cool coming from someone with your modding skills

OK so ever since starting to collect I've wanted to modify one but every time I got a new box I decided it was too good to mess with :nonono:

So I got two of the same box so I could keep one mint and modify the other...got a Philips D8444 as it ain't much to buy and its not the best sounding box in the world so I didn't feel too guilty messing with it

In the year I've been collecting I've done some restoration work to boxes (see {C}viewtopic.php?f=47&t=16961&hilit=smashing+sharp{C}) so I'm not completely clueless but I've no knowledge or experience of electronics so it was a bit scary but this is the result (hope this works as not put up a video before!):

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aNOc2V0IBI

Its all wired into the box power supply and the LEDs switch on and off with the main on/off switch, though I added a switch in the recess in the back of the box so I can switch just the lights off if the flashing induces an epileptic fit!

Hope you like it, though I'm sure the purists out there will hate it!
My, Oh My.............................My, Oh My indeed - I'm awestruck with this achievement, Northerner! :w00t: :jawdrop:
That's an incredible piece of work, what a result!!!

Hello sir. I am a newbie here and this is my first post. Northerner, this is awesome. I'm not an electrician either, and would love to add this same kit to a D8443. I would really appreciate any help in this project. I have a couple of these that have had big rechargeable 12v batteries added so I won't feel bad about altering from stock condition. Can you specify the parts that you used and how. Thanks so much, I've always been attached to this model for some reason and now I need to disco up a box. I'm so lucky to have found other collectors of this model. Thanks

Ha ha if I tell you I'll have to kill you!

Still got my disco D8444 :-)

I just tapped the power supply at the source, ran it to the back of the box for a switch then it goes to the led units. Drill a load of holes and job done :-)

I would love to see another disco D8444/3 :-)

Awesome!
I'll be biting my nails until these parts arrive. Thank You!
These LED sets are going on a box with a 40+ hour rechargeable battery in it.
Next summer is going to have some cool looking night parties!
I'll update with pics of my first disco mod, thanks to you! -cheers
