I agree! I absolutely LOVE the GF-9292. I couldn’t find one that I could afford, so I bought the GF-9191. I can’t see a difference except the left of the display area has an led meter and my 9191 has two analog meters. Mine is so dirty, but IT WORKS! I’m going to clean and polish it up and LOVE that thing.

If you modeled one of these in 3D, you could take a still pic from any direction and with any lighting. Actually, I believe that that these two pictures ARE from a 3D rendering of the boombox. Very well done!

Beautiful shot here. This photo is better than anything I could find online. I have to say that I've got some work to do on the speakers. I couldn't make out the detail there, so I didn't put it in. As we all know, the GF-9191 and the later model GF-9292 mostly share the same components. IMHO, these are some of the reasons why the 9292s seem to demand more money:
1. Scarcity - the 9292 just wasn’t sold in the same numbers as the 9191 so far fewer have survived.
2. The LED VU meters of the 9292 scream 1980s far more than the 1970s style needle meters of the 9191.
3. Bling - the 9292 chrome speaker caps combined with the white cones and the chromed metal mesh grills in the tweeters have that ‘perfect bling storm’ look. The extra speaker ring detailing also pumps up the bling factor.
On paper, they should cost the same but flashing lights and shiny bits always demand more atttention from punters.
It sounds weird but after finding 2 local 9292s, I’ve never managed to find a 9191!!

Thanks for the description of the differences. I’ll have to check that out. The 9292 does look amazing. Hell, they both do! I’m partial to the needle meters myself. Old fashioned, I guess.
Well, I just found (and actually came up with the money for) a GF-9292! It'll need a little work, but I bought it! I CAN'T WAIT TO GET IT! It's currently in the mail

Here is my 9292 providing the tunes at the Brisbane airport this morning and riding shot gun on my delivery run today.
That truly is a beautifully designed boombox! I love to see it out and about in action! What do you play when you are around other people? The radio? What’s your playlist?
