Maybe... Just maybe... Could be the high bidder didn't even notice that the cassette mechanism was missing. God knows I did stuff like that myself in the past -- scan through a listing and missed the details.

I mean on some boxes that is missing a cassette mechanism, there is at least some hope of replacing it. Where on earth are you gonna locate another cassette mechanism for that bombeat? I'd say that's even harder than finding TWO salamanders wandering the mojave desert, much less one.
