Or at least Bobby thinks I do!

Not personally, just with my luck finding boomboxes in thrifties or wild. See below some of what has transpired over the last year...and quite a few within the last three months! Walkmans, Discmans and not shown, reel cassettes and music tapes.

I keep asking ol' Fatbottom to spend a day down here and have a go but he can't seem to make the time. Is that my fault? Why should I suck because Alabama seems to have some choice bits? Heck, there was an M70 I would have had if not for visiting my parents in Georgia. Why? Cause I couldn't get to the thrifty before the eBay hunters did. Oh well..next time. Anyway...onto why I suck...

Oh...I meant to tell you, I try to share my joy by texting the occasional photo when I find something to local brother Bobby...maybe that's why? :hmmm:   (He responded to my last one by congratulating me...then told me I sucked. :w00t:    )

These last two (along with the Lasonic) really got under his skin!

Of course the ones needing some work I am ready for. Tunya showed me where I could get molding compound and epoxy mold for knobs and I have some Mighty Putty for body work. The best part is...as a whole the group is 90% operational with only a few decks needing attention. Boy...I'd really suck if I mentioned all I've found...did I mention that my Vector VMC-100 came from a thrifty? The one I got from Skippy is now with Joel (71Spud)...I also found a DT-680 for parts.

So does all this mean I suck? Or should Booby quit bitchin' and set aside some time to do some huntin' in 'Bama?

Exactly. I think Frizzle would claim "home field advantage" in such a case. :-P :-D

There would be no duel. Bobdoggy would have guest priveleges! :-D

DAMN! Freddy, you must hit every thrift you see! There's some real gems in those finds. Love the Pioneer CT-F950!

Does that M60 sound any good?

Bobby, you and I are pretty much in the same boat when it comes to finding gear locally. But as a consolation prize I do find some good, sealed tapes from time to time. In the last month and a half I've found TDK SA, SA-X, AD, DS-X, Maxell XLII-S, XLII, UD, Nakamichi metals, BASF, Fuji, Scotch, JVC, etc...

As a matter of fact...IT SOUNDS GREAT!!! This was actually in horrible shape when I got it and has been an ongoing project. All the internals are good now for about a year though the casette is still wonky at times. (Plays when it feels like it.) My next move is th exterior. But the M-X650K and RX-5150 are first in line.... :-D

And the CT-F900 is sweet too! My dad has the RT-909 reel to reel which I get whenever he's ready. (In his speak...when he dies.)

As far as thrifties go, I have a route that I try to take at least once a week as time permits depending on where my work takes me. :-D

I like the JVC PCV2J...they have surprisingly good sound and very strong bass especially when played indoors. I have one that I am adding some red accents to and repainting in a gloss black...stay tuned

Damn. The only thing I see at the thrifts around here are Lloyds, memorex, colby, and other lame shi*aT. And most thifts around here want $15 to $20 for those. :-O I haven't bought anything from the thrifts in like months cause I got tired of the junk taking up good space that I'm trying to reserve for my keepers. In fact, I seldom even go anymore -- feel almost like I'm wasting my time.

I'm super jealous Freddie, so like Fatdog, I say --- you suck! :w00t:

BTW, congrats on all the cool stuff.

'Bama, Bar-B-Q, & Boomers...what in the sam hill are you waiting for?
Looks like the huntin' is primo down yonder.
One question: when you tree the boomer, who has to do the climbing? Is that a guest privilege, too?

Thanks for the correction on the Pioneer deck... I just assumed it was a 950 'cuz they look so similar. Didn't even know about the 900 until recently... Other than the 950 being metal-capable, are there any other differences you know of? I love that silver face heavy duty look...

The panny RX-5150 is a great box. Good luck getting yours up and running to your satisfaction. Mine has become my reliable local traveler box. Fatdog turned me onto the ebay auction, now that I think about it. Don't know much about the others.

Anyway, Good luck with all of your projects! Looks like you are finding enough in the wild to keep you and Bobby plenty busy!

Fatdog... I'm thinking you're due for a trip down to 'bama.

That's great, oldskool! I see lots of gems in that bunch - that Sony with the square woofers especially!

I also like that Toshiba mini! It's part of the "Sugar" line in Japan. Still looking to get myself one of those.
