Haha, I gotta say I did not expect that outcome!
Goes to show how bad the eBay world has become for regular buyers. Everyone seems to be shill bidding and trying to squeeze every last cent out of their items.
I remember when most auctions just used to start at 1€ and sold for whatever people were willing to bid without anyone just driving up the prices.

Anyhow...whoever got it for the new BIN probably made a good deal. If that champagne one is thrown together with a good parts box, it will look halfway decent in the end.

Seems to be the way it goes with these rare models. The last BB40 that sold for 2500€ was relisted as well, then sold for 1900€.
Interestingly enough, the first time around interest seemed a bit more diverse. No zero feedback bidders.
The second time almost half the bids were made by two accounts with zero feedback and no other activity. Only five different people with feedback bid among which were none of the bidders from the first auction. The second highest bidder with feedback entered a maximum of 1299€. So winning bid maybe should have been 1300€.

I'm not sure what to make of this. The first bidding history didn't look that much like shill bidding but the second did. It could mean that bidders are as anxious as sellers. It also seems like the relisting did not attract any of the former bidders but maybe rather scared them (and others) away? So maybe it could even be in the interest of a buyer to use a second account to make ridiculous bids and then don't follow up on the win. Article gets relisted, eyerony is suspicious, price drops? Unless the seller ain't playing fair either.

The buyer will remove the gold front case and put it onto the body of a regular BB40 with all the electronics. Then he'll use a heat gun to remove the RT-913G label from the back of the bad case, and put it onto the new one. Then he'll re-list it for $10,000 without telling bidders about the swap.

Every time one pops up they become less rare lol. Who gives a **** anyway unless you need attention and have to buy that cool factor at a useless luxury price.
