These take a couple of aa batteries for the radio memory and digital display, dont know if it will solve the radio issues but its worth changing them first.

won a Sharp GF-9595 on ebay today for $75 shipped
http://www.ebay.com/itm/121058067375?ss ... 1439.l2649

he says he can not get the tape or radio to work says radio has static
so i wonder if it could be a dirty switch for the tuner & it needs antennas too & a battery cover
tape deck may need new belts

i hope i can get it working maybe something minor

Nice one. The tuner is probably floated out of spec due to old caps or tuner pot issues. Sometimes you can fiddle with the tuner adjustment pots inside and get things working. Just remember where you turned them from and put them back as close as possible cause without the proper test equipment, signal generator, injector, o-scope etc you will really fudge it up.

Looks like the battery cover is standard "sharp" style and one off another GF 9X9X series may work.

Wanna trade + cash on my part for my PH-463?

I use to have a couple of them and the strangest thing - some were powering up without those AA batteries, some were total dead before putting batteries. Till now im not sure whats the deal , but worthy trying that  One of the greatest boomers and really underestimated for no reason

I received the GF 9595 from ebay the good news is that the phono input works & sounds good
the tape deck needs new belts.
the tuner does not pick up any stations on any band. just static but the static does change when the bands are switched
i might try to change some caps in it. and see if it makes a difference
does anyone else have any other ideas to get the tuner working

Congrats

Did you opened it already?
For that radio static, you have to check the two wires which goes from the tuner section to both antennas, maybe the connection is loosen. :hmmm:
Good luck with the repair
