There is a point where you stop controling your boombox collection,, and the inventory starts controlling you.
There is a different level for each person. Enough philosophy...

On a lighter note , it would be fun for someone to start a new thread:
"Best guesses: Where in the world is Norm going, with his truckload of Boomboxes?'
Im not going to start the thread. :)
Cue Ira or Joe in three, two, one...

:-D

Well I'm at about 20 now and that's plenty for me...any more and I'd need some packing boxes myself...coz the wife would chuck me out and I'd need somewhere to live :)

One thing is for sure, Norm loves his radio's and is doing what he MUST do to insure they make it to they next location.

Remember, when these radio's were new, they were shipped to the store on a pallet probably 40 per pallet. Not one at a time via UPS. The way Norm is doing it, in a shipping container is really the only way to insure them making it to their destination.

Great time to inventory your collection too.

Then another trip in June. This with the engines, tool boxes, refrigerator, mower, welders..... it was so heavy it blew one of the tires in Wisconsin close to Laramie. Lucky I had the foresight to have bought an extra spare before the trip. However, the flat disturbed me enough that I had the blowout replaced as we passed Colorado. The blowout and wondering whether the other tires are susceptible disturbed me rest of the trip. I never felt that way with a vehicle on the bed and I've towed several without fear. However, this much steel must've weighed a ton. And most of the tools and a large wide treadmill are in the bed of the truck. The blowout mangled the fender a bit, but luckily not enough to interfere with operation nor function of the fender.

Today.............

Started to Load the trailer.

Then Mellymelsr and Reli showed up to "help".
IMG_8494.JPG

Melvin said it was toooo quiet and he needed tunes. Seems he really liked listening to the Aiwa TPR-990.

Reli, on the other hand, couldn't stop playing with THIS guy.

Some boomboxes lined up for "boxing." Problem is at the end of the day, the trailer looked almost the same as before we started. The pile of boomboxes waiting to be boxed were still sitting there at the end of the day. WTF???
IMG_8496.JPG

Well, it appears the reason is that what was supposed to be a packing/loading exercise turned out to be a boombox chat and play meet instead. OMG! No wonder nothing got done.

In all seriousness, mega THANKS to these two fellas for all their help. This task was much more challenging than I ever imagined. I never want to move again! I owe them big time.

yeah. But I see his point of doing it himself. How many of us would trust a moving company with packing and shipping our grails?
I know I wouldnt let anyone touch my rx7200; it will be safely strapped into its own car seat for the trip.

I cant wait to see the unpacking pictures.
Or, will he just save them like that, and open one box per Christmas season?

Hey Phil,

If I open just one carton per month, I probably won't get to them all before I expire! With that knowledge, I KNOW I have overdone it. Gonna have to pare down first chance I get. I've lost the thing I love to do most, which is to repair and hack, tinker and experiment since the collection really is out of hand and I have no time to do those things.

Like you say, it's likely they will just stay packed up.

Wow Norm, What a story....

Good thing you bought a big tough truck. The first time we met, you had the Avalanche. Then the next time I saw you, you had this MASSIVE Chevy, I just couldn't understand why you needed that much truck...NOW I KNOW!

Sorry I'm so far south that I can't lend a hand, but it looks like you got enough looky loo's! Kudo's to Reli and Melly for helping.

I'm sure your labeling the boxes with what radio is inside...At least you will be more organised when you get there

Wow! Wish I could have helped...and glad you're getting about safely. Now you do know the real reason for them helping was to audition some of your finer units for their collection.

(At least I would have. )
