... pick up a box in person from a seller you don't trust to ship?

or

... pick up a box to avoid potential shipping damage?

I would drive at least 200 miles one way for the right box.  :afro:
Or to Boyton Beach Florida (whichever is closer). :hmmm:

I've gone 180 miles one way a few times before but now it would take the right box at the right price to get me to do it again. Maybe a nice M90 or a C100F for $100 or even $300 but I wouldn't do it for the boxes I've done it for in the past. :nonono:

I was young and desperate with few boxes now I'm just old and tired with to many boxes. :-P

I think I'd have to draw the line at around 200 miles as well. Depends on if I'm road-trippin' with a friend or by myself.

Assuming I don't put any value on my time, one tank of gas is about $40, which will cover most boombox shipments.

Shipping is the way to go. But sometimes the personal touch is necessary.

1,000 mile for the right box-seriously! :-)

May be worth it but what is the right box? :hmmm:

I haven't been lucky enough yet to even try!
A super mint M-90 or Conion-Or 9994K or Big Ben-This kind of Booms!NIB would be nice to but things have to get a little better for me though $ wise!
Have a great night-GB. :-)

You better hope its the right one after a long road trip like that..

I have one question. After driving that far and for some reason you end up finding stuff wrong with the box, would you be glad you saw it in person and didn't get scammed through shipping, or would you be disappointed you traveled that far and came back empty handed?

I've made a couple long trips, one for a Conion C100F and to same guy for a JC2000. Great experience both times, but was pressed for time and would of liked to hung out longer and talked.

It was nice knowing that they wouldn't get damaged in shipping, but if you have a great shipper like Royal who sent me a MasterBlaster from the UK? I believe, and got here safely... its almost not necessary. Depends who is on the other side of the deal.

good question ----

no matter how far we drove to get there --
it would seem like 4 times as long -- to drive back with no box - :sadno:
if it was a POS -

or a great fun trip home -- if it was a great box and a good deal

--- for me -- i would go a few hundred miles-IF it was an expensive box

Only box i would drive for a great distance would be an m90 but i would find it much more rewarding to drive to meet members from here and abroad but alas i can't see never mind drive  so that's out

depends on the box and the drive honestly.

if it was a nice drive i would most likely go pretty far.

I'm planning on travelling to Florida to get an M90. From Australia.

And of course partake in Sunshine Meet 2010 activity.

Depending on quite a few factors however...

Rock On.
