Dang. Missed out on another cheap M70 on ebay. I was high bid for $125 until 2 seconds left. Sold for $127 :dunce: . Eh, whatever :'-(

Well blu if your absolute limit was $125 and you wouldn't have bid any higher this one buyer would have beat you no matter how you approached the auction. The good thing is M70's are fairly common so I'm sure you'll get another shot.

Still sucks when there is just one person in front of you.

Yeah, I'm not really mad at all - I just wanted to start a new thread and kind of let people know that the ebay price hike looks to be coming back down to reality  . Thanks for the support anyway ;-)

Hey Blu... that happens to me so many times that my middle name is second-place.

Seriously, most of the time, a high bidder sniper does bid very substantially so their high bid is not likely to be simply 1 bid-increment higher than yours. When you change your bidding habits to bid-to-win, you will win a lot more auctions but just keep in mind that you will be paying more for your goods. Sometimes, it's just a little higher. Sometimes, it can be waaay higher than you planned. BUT you will win!

Anyhow, the point is that what you are experiencing is nothing unique and happens often enough to the rest of us. If there is 12 bidders, only 1 is gonna win. The rest are runner-ups.

I am happy to be first runner up just for the "second chance" offer  . :breakdance:

Good spirit, I've collected on that a few times.

Not me. Second place makes me even more upset cuz it feels so close, yet so far. If I bid $60 on something and it sells for $250, I figure I had no chance in heck of winning it anyhow. But when I bid $60 and it sells for $61......... shiiiiiittttt ! :-O :nonono: :annoyed: :w00t:

Had somethign similar happen today. I was going to bid on the Discolite on ebay.uk, but figured it would go much higher than the $530 roughly it was at when i checked with 4 hrs left. Well, I come home, and it sold for the exact same price i left seeing it at :p. I should have bid...
Ah well, the world goes on...
Plenty of boomboxes for us all eh ;)

Remember, with eBay's incremental bidding, no matter how high the final bidder's bid is, the price will only go up one increment above yours. Most likely, the last two bids really aren't as close as they look.

What frustrates me when this happens is when I realize that, were it not for just one stinkin' person in the whole wide world wanting what I wanted, I would've won the auction. ONE STINKIN' PERSON!!
:annoyed:
