Was talking about this a while ago in this thread::
https://boomboxery.com/forum/index.php?/topic/18708-aiwa-880-custom-colour-selection/

Finally got my butt into gear to make things happen.
As you can see i've changed the blue to a lime green. The grille i've changed from the dark blue to grey.
Still have to repaint a bit of the silver casing, well namely the plastic strips that go on the sides of the cabinet that cover the grille sides. And waiting on the passive woofer aluminium plate later this week. Norm, i'll have your 2 aluminium discs as well.
Should i leave the aluminium disc silver or...change up the colour here too?

I welcome any comments.

Some progress photos...

Looks good!
I would paint the passive a different color, like blue.
Or you could put a colorful decal on it.
I just think the passive needs to be "livened up".

I saw the first shots of the green and thought holy crap that's bright!...but once you add the grill it looks really cool :)

Nice! I agee with Northerner in that I initially thought it was maybe too bright but then when assembled, it looks great and very "fun." I went the exact opposite route and painted my grills mint green but the shell dark gray and I felt it hid those standoffs a bit better. Scotty, plain silver discs are fine... LMK and how much/where to PP. :-)

Hey Scotty,

That green colour behind the grills looks fantastic! It really updates the look of that Aiwa. The quality of the paint job looks good too.

Well done,

James.... :-)

I thought it looked awful in the first pic Scotty but with the grill on it looks AMAZING!
You have to go really bright underneath because the grill tones it down so much.
Ballsy move. Paid off. Well executed :)

Good one ;)

Cheers.
I'll take some photos outside this weekend when it's all back together.

Thanks for the comments too guys. I'm happy with how the colour turned out...and i knew i had to go bright to get the result i wanted with the grille on.
