It would be logical to think it's because that's what it does.....busts blocks, or streets as we say here in the UK :-)
That would make sense! I don't think it had anything to do with Bob Holness anyway :-)

Ha ha, Bob and boxes just don't mix, so that's a straight up no :-D hope you get the VU sorted mate, it's one of the best looking boxes out there, and sounds sweet.

Anyone stateside got a VU meter from a parts box?...not the end of the world if no one has but I'd like it right if I could :)

Might be a loose wire in a connector, or a cracked circuit board.

Sadly the right hand VU died in transit but it got me a partial refund of the already pretty decent price.

Every boombox gets a soak in the sink to ease away 30 years of aches and pains :-)
I've said this a million times I know....but please try to get all that extra water out of those screw holes and trust me it aint as easy as it looks. The residual water in there can rust and basically glue the screw in place

Nice box, love the blockbuster! I've had a blockbuster with a burnt out VU too, wonder if its a model specific thing or like as suggested at least an easy fix? :hmmm:

Had the same problem with my first Blockbuster. A lazy VU. Took ages but eventually got a spare from a member here.

Yep, I always use compressed air to blow out the screw holes.

I hope to see one of these in person some day and may own one too :D

This is a relevant point if your cleaning before painting also :-)

I'd be inclined to make a separate post in 'Parts Wanted' for the meters Simon. I also got the glass for the door that way.

hard to not love that radio. nice simple but cool looking design.
:agree: not too flashy, but it just screams "Boombox"!
Even if an innocent bystander never seen a Blockbuster in their life, they'd know it was a boombox! I personally think its an "unknown icon"..
