I paid about 900 Canadian, including Customs, and shipping from China for my GF-777z. About 3 years ago, before they started popping up like weeds. In the end I think it was worth it, from what I hear about the ones currently available on ePay. Everything works, and is still working :-)

This is a tough one because I have spent less on boomers but have paid quite a bit to get them working....... :hmmm:

I havn't paid too much for any boomer yet. I find mine at about 1/2 market value or less because I am a vulture. :-D :grim:

honestly none of them. i love my radios but i am not someone who is going to ever get into a situation where i am worried about them costing too much. i only buy them for as cheap as i can get them. i mean i still seem to think the total investment for all my boomboxes is under a thousand dollars. well under a thousand dollars.i might not have a m90 or a gf777 but i am ok with what i do have. i mean its kind of up to the individuals what too much is for what.
if you have the money to spend on a thousand dollar boombox then you probably paid what was right for you to pay.

That's really about perception, so if one person pays to $600 for an M90 they may think they got a steal when someone else thinks they're nuts to pay that much. It's so random and subjective that all we can tell you is how we personally feel.

For me my biggest purchase was kind of a lesson and I look at it like that so I'm okay with it. The box I spent the most on was an Aiwa 880 which I paid $699 for and it really wasn't as good as the seller said. It still acceptable but just needs some work which I was able to pick up the parts for at a fraction of the cost of the boombox itself.

I have been much more restrained on what I will pay for any box since then which has kept me from paying anywhere near that much for any box. In fact it's been rare that I've spent more than $200 and often well under $100 since then. I've found a lot more joy in the low dollar purchases because there is literally no stress beyond finding space to tuck them away. The odd $3 to $15 thrift find gives the most payback for investment by far.

I have never found a box in the wild that I have bought. Therefore, other than a few good deals fro m members and a number of quick underpriced BIN on eBay I have paid "market price" for most of my boxes. 2008/9 market..... Not 2010. :-/

i have paid and 'over-paid' fortunes at times --
its when there is a VERY rare model for sale --
and i dont expect to see another one in the same condition for YEARS-

but - almost every time -
i have not been sorry :-) :-)

Boom Shaka Laka

I've paid a bundle (probably more than I should have) for some (my M90 comes to mind) and snagged some real deals on others (like a $3.95 Magnavox 8443). Like Seinfeld said, it all seems to work out even in the end. One thing I can say about the times I've paid full market value: I've never been disappointed by what I got. I can't say that about the bargains

So your the guy that makes all the good boxes to expensive for everyone else. :hmmm: :-P

You validated my point Ira that price is very subjective and different for everybody.

If I can't buy cheap, then I can't collect. It would end faster than it started. I have to use my thrifting skills to the max or I have to pass on even my most wanted boxes.

If I have car parts that have sold and I have money saved in my paypal account then I can get a bbx with whatever amount I have in there.

Because I love all the boxes I currently have I had no problem paying what I had too to get them. My most expensive box was $725 and my cheapest was $30. When I play them or even look at them I don't see the money I spent, I only get a huge smile on my face because I am lucky enough to bring back some of my fondest childhood memories through my boxes...and make some new memories with my kids...and you can't put a price on that. Most people with hobbies don't look at the cost because the enjoyment far outweighs the cost anyway...and besides if I don't spend the money my wife certainly will... :-D

I believe in the beginning I paid more for some bbx's not knowing what the market value was at the time. :hmmm: I understand that its all in how you look at it and one box may be worth a different amount to different people :-) But if I knew then what i know now I would have paid alot less for some bbx's

I paid a bit for a National RX7200. But, I've never seen another one for sale. Based on rarety, I wouldnt think I paid too much. Even if one does come up on ebay, the chances of me winning an auction would be slim. I bet these things only come up once a year, if that.

Other boxes, I think my worst was the 15$ I spent on a panny from ebay. Superduper was able to fix it up-back to decent sounding condition (he is amazing) , but with all the "unadvertised" rust coming from the inside and visible from the bottom, it was definately a bad ebay deal.

Good question, but depends who you are talking too. :hmmm:

For example, I spent over $200 to get my FH-7 MKII, but it's mint with the matching CD and manuals and box.

But, I would have paid more for it because I have lusted after one for years.

Same with an M90, the spend is proportional to the desire....

Most of my boxes have cost less than $50 AUD, but countless hours cleaning, rebelting and repairing....that costs too!

So I don't feel I have ever spent way too much on any box, just a little perhaps to nail that wanted score.
