Beautiful! Now see if you can find RX-7200 - it sounds even better than RX-7000! :-)

Good point about the 7200. Japan would be the place to find one, although shipping won't be cheap. The 7200 is huge

Thanks for the kind words brothers. I reallly do love this box!

And yeah, the 7200's on the list!

Also, it was $330 shipped, the actual box was like 60bux or something equally as ludicrous.

Seems you had some pretty good luck with your japan purchases Rick, or is it because we haven't seen your not as lucky purchases? :hmmm:

I think it's important to note that purchasing from Japan is truly a real crapshoot. There is absolutely no recourse and no matter what you get, whether it was as described, whether it got damaged in shipping, or whatever, there is no filing significantly not as described claims. It is often not even entirely clear whether the boombox was accurately described to begin with due to language barriers and translation errors. Sometimes, you need to buy 2 or 3 just to get 1 good one, or enough parts to combine and make a good one. It's definitely not for the faint of heart and there is certainly an element of risk involved. That being said, once again, you seemed to have acquired some decent examples. Now go fix that deck!

I've had exceptional luck through Yahoo. This is the ninth radio I've had off there and I can't say I've been disappointed yet, all have been posted on here too! Not hiding any lemons! My yahoo list for this year: J7 Super Jumbo, National RX-5700, Sony CFS-99, Maroon Perdisco, Lasonic TRC-975, Sharp GF-535, Toshiba RT-S90, Toshiba RT-S93 and now this one.

I don't take any risks with the shipping though as a friend of mine in .jp takes care of everything for commission. Like I (and Norm!) say, it's a massive crapshoot. One day I'll get a dud, I'm sure. But when I've got 9 personal grails in my collection that range from good to near mint and all are 90%-100% functioning off yahoo already I'll just have to take it in my stride. I've had worse luck with ebay.au to be quite honest, as far as any misrepresentation or risks go.

And the deck IS working Norm!! I'll be buggered if I can get the FFWD and REW going... it's a complete mystery to me. I can live with play and record for the moment, my long suffering repairer will deal with those issues eventually.

I Am Legend
wonsomaponava time --

a local florida ex-s2g member --won a big yahoo grail -
and a mini yahoo grail (sanyo 7900)

the big grail was well packed -
the 7900 was only taped to the OUTSIDE of the big carton-
with 2 THIN strips of clear strapping tape -
--- the 7900 was just 'out there'.....

hanging on - uncovered - with ZERO protection ...

of course -it arrived smashed and useless :dunce: :'-(

so --yes --there are some no recourse risks involved :-)
