Most of my boxes are gone and the ones i have people wouldn't want anyway, just because it's high end doesn't mean it's valuable lol, mind you boxes i was getting for 40 a few years ago people are now asking 500, I'm glad I'm out imho...i have no time for stupidity and i have more money than you bullsh1t..i rather my hifi gear much more than any boombox...you have a great collection homie who cares what others have i don't

there are one or 2 members here and they must have over 500 boxes, good luck to them personally i think they are deranged and disturbed to have that many

i was glad to get rid of most of mine, doorstops are no good to anyone imho

I love some of the f****** sayings that come from collector/ investors like big toys for big boys or go big or go home. you know that s*** real easy to say when you already have it. Seems like people who didn't know what a f****** Boombox was 15 years ago and now they're leading Authority because they have a big collection. I think the reason some people don't even pursue collecting anymore it's because they feel like a small fish in a big pond with all these f****** sharks out there with their expensive collection just waiting to get paid when the prices are right. Like it was said before the s*** is just no fun because they've elevated it to where its exclusive and a lot of people are the member of the f****** club. I go to motorcycle meets almost every weekend during the summer and the same s*** applies there big boys with their toys Most of motherfukers Don't Know Jack schitt about motorcycles and I don't even bother telling him I have four in my garage compared to their one and all of mine are paid for but I don't say s***.
Well, it's the nature of the game. There are Gen X and Boomers with lots of money due to stock market and home value increases. So everything "vintage" gets jacked up in price. There's a guy on here with a massive shoe collection, Jordans and Kobes etc, and some of them have increased in value by a factor of 10 or 20. Also hifi receivers, nobody gave a **** about them in the 80s or 90s, but now look how much people are paying for the top Pioneers and Kenwoods and Sansuis. Old muscle cars, even the ones nobody used to care about, like Novas and Darts, are expensive now. The newest trend is cars from the 80s and 90s that were never sold in the US. If it's 25+ years old you can bring it over legally.

It’s the same whatever you collect…it’s the nature of a free market. Demand pushes up value. Inflation pushes up prices. There’s little point in complaining or blaming in my view, gets us no where. It’s no one individual or groups fault…it’s everyone’s.

I collect a number of different vintage things and it’s exactly the same for all of them.

For example, the average house price in the UK was £4k in 1968 when I was born. It’s now £274k. It’s crap for anyone buying now but that’s how economics work. Most of the world decided it wants a ‘free’ economy. These are the consequences.

Plus I have a house and all the boomboxes I want so I don’t care lol

When you try to hock something at a second hand dealer the first thing they say is but is it actually selling for that Price?

The high prices are set by people who don't really want to sell they just want the attention.

The road I live on 275 k wouldn't buy you enough space to put an outhouse on luckily when we moved here the price of land was much less but that was 43 years ago now the place is worth 10 times what it was then. Luckily the forestry service bought the land next to us so they can't build anything. There's no way I could ever afford to live here if we didn't know this place and I live in the woods lol.

My good friend has 375 Acres he sold part of his land to CSX railroad and they probably needed the train car to bring in the money they paid for it.

Man I’d love 375 acres. I do like my one acre tho, it’ll do me.
Really when all is said and done about an acre is what I have and it's paid for. We do have much more land but my mom has seven other kids she's leaving part of it to I just got my part about 25 years ago because I wanted to build a garage house man cave to live in which I live in now for the last 6 years. It just like you said I'm perfectly happy with my one acre.

I think you prooved your own point here.
Well the lowest priced example I found on eBay was around $100, and the LG was one of a five-radio bundle for $60. But even then I was able to make a $40 profit out of it.

Either way I'm downsizing my collection so I should be able to make a decent amount of cash given the patience that it takes. I still have a GE 3-5265A "Home n' Go" sitting in the corner that I'm thinking about trading, also needs work but not nearly as much. Shouldn't hurt to see what offers I get.

I tell you the person to get to know is your local trash man, my buddy TJ the trash man has brought me at least 10 awesome vintage boomboxes over the years . And especially if you tell them you're willing to pay and show that what you want you'd be surprised how powerful the trash Network can be. All the boom boxes he found for me he delivered to my house for free.

Pay the going rate and you can get your desires. Otherwise try your luck but be prepared to get nothing.

it’s selling boomboxes not saving lives…selling the odd boombox cheap doesn’t make any of us Mother Theresa lol

does me selling a boombox at market value mean I’ve got no conscience?…I’ve sold maybe 100 boxes over the years so it looks like I’m going to Hell with my (non-existent*) big bags of money

[*non-existent cos I spent it all on other boomboxes!]

The problem with me is that nearly every box I've bought was at "full market rate", so I'm not really willing to sell them for "bro rates"

I saw a Sanyo m9935K on American Pickers and you can bet they want to top dollar for that thing. They got me thinking on ways to look for boomboxes even if I have to go picking for them lol.

What would you consider a decent respectable boombox?.
I'm only asking because I'm curious what you're actually looking for.
