So, I decided to walk down the street an hour ago to my neighbor's garage sale. They are selling their home, and moving; so I knew there would be a lot to look at.
Besides, being an older Asian couple, I hoped that they might have some electronics or something....
It wasnt until I got all the way to the back of their garage, searching for the source of music (Rolling Stones), that I finally saw the unexpected. The complete and totally mind blowing, fabled, 'would never happen to me in a million years', in the wild, grail find!
I immediately blurted out the model number, and asked if it was for sale.
'Oh no! I bought that when I first moved to America 30 years ago! Its not for sale, but look at how nice Ive kept it all these years! And look at the special cover I made for it too!'
I offered $100 on the spot.
She looked at her husband who was shaking his head no, then proceeded to tell me that it was very expensive 30 years ago, and was one of the first items they bought after arriving here.
The wife says, 'maybe if you offer a little more?'
I stepped it up to $150, and they both smiled and shook my hand.
After running to the nearest bank machine... done deal!
Ive had a ton of boxes, but never one of these before, and I am blown away at how great it sounds.
Its as clean as can be, and still has a slightly new electronics smell!
The custom cover just blows me away...
For some reason, the right side antenna has been glued and wont swivel?
Never again will I say that garage sales are no longer a source of boomboxes!!!
And to think that I almost didnt walk down there!!!
Ladies and gentlemen... I give you, a teaser shot.
