Apologies if this is a members listing :-)

A Pioneer Disco Robo with a dead deck, non opening deck door, perished control panel, rotten foam speaker surrounds - you know, the usual faults:

Amazes me what people will pay for these tired old Pioneers!

The Pioneer Robo is obviously much more valuable and desirable than this nice Sanyo M9994K only missing it's handle that only went for $68!!

That's crazy obviously.

I have a loose plan of going to New Zeeland next year, I would LOVE one of these, ever since I've read somewhere they were supposedly Afrika Bambaataa's favourite boombox I've wanted one.
Are they common down under? never seen one in Europe either.

Peace

I have a one, still needs the speakers done. They don't have a refined sound but sure do go loud.

I've never been a fan of anything Pioneer but car audio. We used to sell their compent sets when I worked at Sears and they used to get returned like crazy.

I dunno know, is that high? Never seen one before, nor even seen one offered for sale before in the states, so I guess I wouldn't know what is high or not. But for $581 USD, that doesn't sound like that much -- seen a lot more paid for much more smaller and common stuff around here.

They come up for sale here pretty infrequently, apparently, so says the jukebox guy who frequents the UK forum, the trouble is that the speakers don't use the conventional type of suspension, their rings being of an unusually narrow profile and the inner edge sits on top of the cone so it may be necessary to remove the dust caps to centre [the cone] while the glue dries. I'd love the chance to find out but the last one I saw at a boot sale was marked up at £50 and looked like it had come straight down from the back of a very full - and filthier than normal - Quean Mary. In fact I feel like heaving just by remembering the flies that were circling the thing!
The BHF - currently the only major chain of charity shops in the UK that regularly sells electrical goods as most others can't afford the compulsory annual PATs for anything other than their fixtures (Portable Appliance Tests, a sort of MOT for anything that can be connected to the mains) - had one of these in 2012, in working order and a fetching shade of red. They were after selling it at £30 and obviously had no interest as it was left in their scrap pile at the back of the shop next time I called.

And no, I couldn't, because as soon as that thing was put out for disposal, it became the property of the collection company and anyone removing it would be guilty of theft. :bang:

Jimmy, how big are these thing? In the photos, they look big. Too big to ship to the states? Would explain why we have zilch of them here.

For a lot less money you could get a Grundig Space Fidelity, which would blow that POS away.

That's a laughy one!
The Space Fidelity series were cuarse ripoffs of one of the Ouverture prototypes (showcased by B&O at the NEC consumer electronics show in 1994) which, even in β form and entirely p2p wired, was built several dozen times better. Wales should - without meaning any offence to anyone of Welsh nationality - stick to what it does best; Torchwood, ovine husbandry and a famous ancient dyke which at least had the noble purpose of keeping the English out. ;-)

Dunno, I don't think they'd be too big. A bit pricey from down here though. photo(3).JPG
