thank you!. I been beating on it pretty good trying to shake out any weakness , so for she has exceeded every expectation for sound and performance , little or no vibration problems even though it spits out a wave of sound that has to heard to be believed . it's hard to video the cone movements but let me tell you it's beyond what your used to seeing coming from any boombox . i'm most happy just to be working on it again as apposed to the empty husk laying around , now it's ready for use .

Yeah, when things start to come together with good result, after all the work, money spent & after taking a big risk on a new idea, it's a rewarding feeling for sure when it comes out pimpin'......

after all, with super-mods like that, there's really no going back, or starting over.....quite a few times, I held my breath before I started drilling & cutting, etc.

I'm super glad it's all come together so well! It's true you never really know what you're going to end up with until you're finished!!

Well done,

James.... :-)

well . so far i got ,

battery charger installed into the box , it has an access hole to allow me to plug in and re charge the batteries.
battery tray that hold 2 12volt batteries.
1 more battery that fits in the stock battery box and the cord for the battery charger is hidden inside the stock battery box as well.
installed led lights that blink to the music and are volume dependent .
swapped out the outer speakers with some good quality diamond audio coaxial's .

have yet to .
add brackets for a shoulder strap.
re enforce the area around the handle
add rf modulator for aux input .
add corner bracing so i can screw the cabinet corners tight together.
.

the box separates without having to undo any wires .
the antenna is internal.
it has 4 batteries and a built in charger .
easy battery changes in less than 30 seconds.
almost laughable output , in a crazy mad scientist sort of way . completely puts my stock boxes to shame.

here's the charging port for the batteries. the battery is plugged into the back of the radio to charge , then battery then goes into the battery tray inside the radio.

the battery box is on the right side , note the primitive hinge system and crappy cut lines lol.

I can tell you've had some fun building this project!! It turned out really nice with that semi-factory look you simply can't achieve if you build your own casings. Four 6 inchers should be plenty LOUD!! I agree with you that DIY boxes really do make stock boxes sound pretty weak! :-)

And you've provided plenty of battery capacity in your project box so you've solved that issue albeit with quite a complicated charging arrangement.

So well done in successfully completing your kick arse project. And I agree with the OP that there should be a modified box sound off to determine who really has the loudest modified/DIY box!!

James..... :-)

If I could, I would show up for that but my customs are all original power, no T-amps or extra power so Floyd would win, hands down on loudness/power but I'm happy with the sound from mine & 45w out is still no joke....
