just another worn out husk i been wanting to finish , have to put the guts in her but wanted to do some chrome trims and more old skool looking speakers than i had in it before .

i have an old skool 35x2 car amp to run the subs and the outer speakers will be powered by a boombox amp chassis and controls plus the tape deck and power supply . the amp for the subs is powered by another boombox ac/dc transformer and battery box.

should thump .

i'm hella broke so i move slow but i want to hear this thing as a true working boombox .

i'm working on it man , i decided just to use a jvc cassette head unit . i already installed the power supply , i'm hoping it's strong enough to run it on d-cells as well. it should actually end up lighter weight than a stock 777 only with better speakers and way more power. should be able to do aux input through a car audio fm modulator that's hard wired in and plugs into the antenna socket of the radio. this has a big ac/dc power supply installed and i would be happy with 80 to 100 clean watts of power even though the head unit is rated at 45 watts x 4 . we'll see how the power supply hold up.

So your 4 channel car head unit is running all 4 speakers? And it's being run by drill batteries?
Looks like it would really thump!

Good work so far!

James ..... :-)

yes and yes . sounds great but the phone i'm recording with distorts the sound on the video. batteries last a good while even cranking it up loud. i made a battery tray inside the box and i'm making a access panel on the back case to get to the battery box. i'm going to make another tray on the other side to hold the charger with an access panel for that as well. on top of that i can store a 3rd battery in the original batter compartment , so that's 3 12 volt batteries and the charger all inside the radio. the head unit is rated at 45 x 4 and she pumps some power.

Wow, 3 batteries! You're on the right track with your large battery capacity as car decks aren't known for their efficiency. So I'd assume with the standard casing, you'll end up with a much more powerful 'Boombox' style of sound with much better controlled bass with the more powerful amp.

Of course '45watts per channel' is around 15-17 watts RMS per channel x 4 into 4 ohms. Can't get much more out of 12 volts. :-)

Are you going to seal up the rear case? :-)

This is going to be a real beast!! :-)

all i can say about the power is it has twice as much as it needs to do the job . not going to seal up the case because it sounds better and louder ventilated . not really after to much precision on the build quality one least wise till its mocked up .

thank you . i ended up swapping the outer speakers with some diamond audio coaxial's. the sound is fantastic and well balanced now. box gained about 10 pounds but is still very reasonable. this thing has the real deal when is comes to speakers , the **** sounds insane.
