Does anyone have a Lasonic i931?

A friend of mine has one.As I remember,it will go fairly loud and has good strong tweeters.The bass is Ok but not like with the classic Trc-931.It has a lighter,sleeker more toy like feel unlike the imposing presence of the old one.This irritates some collectors.There are sound presets or simple bass and treble software EQ unlike the fomer multi band EQ.Overall sound is very nice.
Keeping things into perspective,you shouldn't be disappointed.However,if I were going to spend the money,it would be debatable whether I shouldn't add a bit more and get the new Altec800 which is a much better performer.

The old Lasonics were not high quality builds either.Seeing the newer i931,I think they've done a good job engineering it to be a very simple construction so that the cheap quality is less an issue than it could have been.As I said,its a nice box and you shouldn't be disappointed.The styling though is just more feminine or child like compared to the original.The sleeker thinner chassis also probably contributes to its lack of keeping up with the classic for bass.Especially given whats available today these really are overly critical observations though.
Well to start with I was disapointed then decided to get carving at those stupid chambers that they thought in an insane moment might work, around the drivers
and it greatly improved bass. Not quite to my 935 standards but without a doubt better....

I have one. Not a lot of bass, but it does crank. The aux in is nice and the usb port is cool plus it has a remote. I could do without the phony tuner sticker. My only peeve is the "radio info display thing" ,it doesn't always display right,(reception strength dependent), and you can't shut it off. However it is entertaining watching it try to spell out title and artist before the song ends!

I still need one of these. I want the all white one. Are they still making this? Is there a new one coming?
I like the SD card feature. If I had a 16 gig SD chip, that would be all I'd need!

How many batteries does it take?
Is it heavy?

I'm not sure about the softer lines on the i931, looks like it doesn't really mean business........ especially next to the older box.
Still it would be remiss of me not to buy one.

The only major thing the TRC-931 has over the i931 - besides it's looks - is harder hitting bass. If you know how to hook up the sound on both the iPod and the i931, that's the only thing missing 'cause the volume is pretty much the same. The i931 sounds "cleaner" and "clearer" to me tho, and because it's a very lightweight box, you won't get fatigued carrying it around. If you've got an iPod, this is THE BOX you wanna carry over almost all other boxes. Honestly just carve out the baffles surrounding the drivers [neatly obviously] they get a chance to move more.....

I'm the one who recommended removing those baffles... almost 2 years ago.
