:agree: I used to go to school with a younger kid who got killed for his Jordans back around 1990... He was a real cool dude too.

Less severe, but back in the summer of 1987, these 2 older cats jumped out a car while I was walking around with my Lasonic (20-seconds away from my house) and tried to jack me for my box. They didn't try to beat me up but tussled with me for it. They gave up and hopped back in their car when they figured I wasn't gonna let it go. Afterwards, I realized that they managed to pull half the handle out of the case, but I put back in when I got home... Still, that didn't stop me from walking around alone with my box, but it made me much more cautious.

Nowadays, cats don't even do all that... If they want what's yours, they'd just walk up on you, pop you, take that and walk off. :-/

i see what you mean then, thats hard.

i live in a similar urban area, but dont have have those kind of problems...

thank God.

:hmmm: If you completely seal a box that's meant to operate basically open air won't that cause other issues such as changing the sound. Good luck sealing all the knobs and switches.

Back in the 80's when I was a kid and these things weren't collectors items, hell yeah I did, but I had a back pack that I used to carry my box in. Mostly so I could sneak it into school with me.

But rain or shine, it was with me all the time!

Luckilly having many boomers I can take an old Sony or a whatever & I bring plastic bags to wrap it in and more plastic bags & I sometimes have been known to put it under my coat to!
Snow storms are nicer but Real heavy rain is where you have to be careful.
I do have a weather walkman that is waterproof!!
But boomers-yes I do in all types of weather because I have 90 boomboxes & I'm crazy but again no grails in the bad weather!
Nice thread Eldo!
