My personal favorite... Just bought this Panasonic RX-6400 from DM4U.

Got my first MINT RX-6400 from RBJ last year. Love the performance these mosters give.

So Im always on the look out for others. I happened across some new video from James in Texas, known as DM4U (banned here as well as at the other site).

He had some pricing in the 'notes' area of his youtube boombox videos, so I asked him about it. Sure enough, he says that 'everything is for sale except for 3 or 4 boxes' out of hundreds! He is out of work, and wants to clear some living space. Money talks, because he needs it.

If you are one of the few who have not seen his dumbfounding bbx collection in his 800 sq ft apartment, you must view it immediately!

He has a few of these rare RX-6400's and a blue RX-A2. I bought one from him last week. He took great photos of my payment, the box, the packaging, and shipping. Plus he provided me with a tracking number.

Ok, some of us have had issues with James, I for one, never did. So I dont mind buying from him. My purpose here other than showing off my new Panasonic, is to let my fellow collectors know that one of the greatest bbx stashes known is now available.

Besides Arkay in Hong Kong, does anyone in the world have more boxes? Besides, these are For Sale!

On the the box:

It arrived packaged to pefection! These dont need anything more than a label slapped on the back due to their built in armor, but I appreciated the extra care given anyway!

It works 100%. In fact its on 'Line In' right now blasting some OASIS.

Controls have static, sometimes the Left channel falls silent, but jiggling the line in the back solves that problem.

Its lived a full life. Compared to the RX-6400 I bought from Ira, its banged and battered, the chrome is worn, although I may powdercoat all the metal flat black soon, and the strangest thing of all... while exactly like my MINT 6400, its a different color of Grey. Or is it Green? I can never be sure? I know its not fading from use in the sun, because the color is uniform. My MINT 6400 is a darker color.

Ok, so these things make a Conion C-100F run for cover, I think thats no secret.

I only wish I could find some 'period correct' information on these! Advertising, technical bulletins, owners manual. Anything! Im not even sure what year these were built? Anyone have some history?

Believe me, Im so tempted to buy up dozens of boxes from DM4U, but I myself do NOT want to hoard. So Ive yet to buy a second box from him, but I soon will. I think for me personally, to ward off the 'fever', and to keep the wife happy, Im going to have to limit my haul to one box a month. That means the other few hundred, are up for grabs my friends!

Go for it.

Now, a few photos: Sorry for the bad lighting, we had a dark Winter day here yesterday...

I would encourage anyone to add these to their list of 'must haves!'

Nice!

And ya, I know James has some cool boomboxes - I think pretty much all of us watched him overbid on many. I bought one boombox from him a long time ago - about 3 years ago or so. And I had a similar experience - very good packing and fast shipping.

But then he was going to buy a Toshiba WX-1 from me - and asked me to keep it for him for a few weeks while he was saving some money - and a week or so later he bought not one, but two of those Toshibas from China - without even saying a word to me. So he is just unpredictable like that

Even his WX-1's are available, I know because I asked!

His prices are not as high as he may have paid. I mean, I paid $200 shipped for this Panasonic!

I feel that is a massive deal. These are strange though, in that people either love them, or ??? Maybe they dont have a lot of attention because people just dont know the power and quality. As rare as they are I can see these remaining a bit of a mystery bbx.

Still got your WX-1 for sale? :-)

No, I sold my Toshiba a long time ago - didn't really like it that much.
Does he have a list of boomboxes he's selling? I'm in the buying mood right now :-)

He has prices up on some of his listings and I don't see any reasonable prices, everything is priced at the very high side.

Ya, he overpaid for most of his boomboxes - I remember the insane prices he paid.....but the RX-6400 for $200 is a pretty sweet deal though!

Not so much a list. Basically pick something out from one his 'apartment' video's as he pans through each room with his camera. Or look at his many videos that focus on just one or two boxes at a time.

I think he has just about everything you could imagine. Or want, at least those of us who are serious collectors.

True, some of his prices are high where he has that info listed with his youtube videos, but he has said that most things are 'Best Offer'.

I know he may have upset a lot of members here for whatever reason, but I couldnt let this chance pass for those of us here looking to find that special 'Grail'.

PS: Let me make it clear that I am in no way getting a 'cut' of what he sells, or earns, nor am I getting any special favor for this. He gave me a great deal, he needs money and wants his boxes to go to the right people!

his 'apartment' video's

For me personally, those videos of that big giant walking around talking and filming his boomboxes in his filthy, messy apartment is enough to make me not want to buy anything from him. Most of his videos are very disturbing to me and he gives me the creeps    :afro:

I just went and looked at his boomboxes, and the only one I actually want is Sharp GF-575. But he's asking $350 - and I didn't want to pay more than $200 for the last one on ebay a few days ago. And I just noticed that he paid $1750 for one of his Nationals RX-5350 - that is just crazy :-O
But it's sad really - I feel bad for him if he really lost his job....

Here's a list of all boomboxes OCD4U has purchased since August 2008 (current as of this post):

http://www.mediafire.com/?7h8yuchwp4d6pcv

Keep in mind that the list does not include shipping charges.

The RX-6400 was initially won for $100 (still a fantastic deal at $200 including shipping). The GF-575 was bought for $159 from China.

The list doesn't include any boombox that cost $1,750, but there is a $1,361.01 RX-C300. :-O

Yeah, $159 is more like it - but the Chinese charge like $180 for shipping or so? Still - $159 would be a good price for it.
As far as $1750 National 5350 - it might be one of those from Peppin - only he sold the National version, if I'm not mistaken. Either way, $1,361.01 RX-C300 is just as crazy :-O

Oh yeah, I can confirm the $1,750 price, as he mentioned it, but maybe it was a side deal and not through ebay?

I think his Conion TC-999 for $400 shipped is probably about right.

I didnt know how little he paid for the RX-6400, although he had more than one. So I wonder if it is mine? How on Earth could anyone value so much power for only $100? That amazes me. A $100 RX-6400 is worth buying, even if you hate the box, to mine out its internals to transplant into a box your restoring or modding! Can you imagine a Lasonic 931 with the guts swapped for the Panasonic? It would probably explode!

( I just now saw this. ) There are several people that I know of (and I assume some more that I don't know about) who have more boxes --a lot more boxes!-- than Arkay in Hong Kong. That said, Arkay just added another box to his stash today, this time another Sharp GF-9000. He was reported to have mumbled something about "not buying boxes any more, but what;s one more exception? After all, no one can have too many GF-9000s!" Oh, and who says Arkay's boxes aren't for sale? I think it's just that he's too lazy to list, pack and ship them, or too busy hunting for more, or some such thing. Everything has its price, and most things are for sale, at least to some extent.

Anyway, Congratulations on the Panasonic... and to the OP on the other Panasonic, too!

Is this true? If so I think his life will definitely change, I just can't see him getting another job that pays the same as his bus driver job. I could be wrong but that's how he strikes me.

Yeah, JLF mentioned that he's out of work - and I also recall that DM4U was withdrawing money from his 401K to buy boomboxes. Ya, he seemed pretty weird to me as well....

My experience with him is simply that we made a deal for one of his boxes, and, although he taped himself going into a UPS Store for packing supplies, he never got around to packing or sending the unit. Fortunately, he also never got around to asking me for a payment, and I never sent one, so I'm not out anything. I finally bought the same box from someone else, which I think surprised (and disappointed) him. But my patience had simply run out. At the time, he seemed easily distracted, full of excuses, and unreliable. I'm glad to hear that he's apparently changed. I only wish it hadn't taken losing his job and spending so much of his money for that to happen.

I unfortunately have the same 'issue' with other members here.

Its like, come on guys! Is it really that difficult to follow through?

:annoyed:

EDIT: So 'Arkay', are you not actually Arkay in H.K.? Your post, while greatly appreciated; is written in like, the third person or some such. Just wondering! :-D
