The one thing I have learned from this (other than not to use heat :thumbsdown:) is that once you post a question on a method, wait a couple of days to give members the chance to respond. You stand a better chance of finding one that will work in your particular situation. :-D

On chrome dust caps basically nothing works. I've tried it all and even if you pop it out it will have wrinkles on it from the previous dent.

Never use vacuum! It is a NO NO! It will suck the dust cap and pull the coil and spider suspension out. It will only make more problems.

The best way is to remove the old dust cap and put a new one. Don't use blow drier because it might heat up the voice coils and warp it.

Gorilla tape did the trick for me. It might leave wrinkles depending on how bad the dent was, but it won't generally introduce more if you're careful.
Another neat little trick I discovered with G tape is that if you pick a little bit of the goo off the tape and work it into the end of a screw, it works better than a magnetized tip does and it stays with the screw.
