A lot of the times it is harder to find a replacement that fits decent and has the right length. This way he keeps it as original as possible. For a grail, I would do the hammer trick and make it better rather than buying a random antenna.

Absolutely id rather a bent antenna to a cheap random antenna
But hey look at us we all have the odd bent bits i know i do
im a little older than most of these boxes
I would rather see a loved box where someone has spent time and thought on fixing it
as for cheap replacement antenna its not an option
Then it gets to a point like with a pet you love and would spend anything to get it perfect again
You search out the original but sometimes that takes time and money
Each to there own

yes so true
i dont have any of my original boxes i trashed them all as a kid
but thats the way i remember them
ahh that party that we were so trashed and someone fell on my box
I was so angry at the time but somehow put it back together for the next party
These boxes were workers
and you had to be a DIY guy to take your box out on the streets

Lets not treat them like museum pieces yet
They are still young
Rock on

That is why I attempted this on a 'nothing special' box. The 'Character' thingy too!

So, I am happy to report it went quite well, and sorry pics to follow tonite or in the morn'.

I felt at the start Joe's tap tap tap tap tap tap tap method may end up more :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: :bang: with my type A persona, but with the addition of the heat it went fairly quick. In total, less than an hour spent and a relatively easy learning curve. A gentle hand and some relaxation meds, hic!

A bit more later,

So here is my finished product, tho I dare say it could get better with more time for a better box/grail

1st pic is before shot. Pic 5 is the mid section. The smaller diameter rounded a bit more easily, understandably. Main deep crease still apparant but 90% rounded out.

My keyboard is giving me grief :bang: so I will post a detailed account of this later, sorry

Hell of a lot better! I'm glad it worked and it is very simple that anyone can try. Nice job.
