The louder Blaster thread got me in the mood to build my own boombox. I have updated my old TRC-931 so I figured lets go crazy. This boombox will run off 4 12v 8amp batteries in a 24v 16 amp configuration. The class D amp should give me close to 125 watts per channel and last at full volume 8~ 10 hrs. But I do need some help deciding some of the speaker placement. Please let me know where y'all think the mids and tweeter should go. I have taken 3 pics with them moved around so let me know. Here are a few pics of the proto in mdf final product will be in fiberglass to save weight (I hope)
As always comments and suggestions are always welcomed.

I always like mids and tweeters at the top of a boombox. They seem to have a nicer "spread" of frequencies. I'm looking forward to seeing the handle for this monster.

Got it all working on saturday night and it was funny while in the garage jamming run dmc, eric b, whodini :breakdance:  the neighbors started coming over and we started talking about our first boomboxes and everyone hung out till about midnight. The power of the boombox. Think i'm gonna make another one this one with just 8's in it since the 4 10's is just plain heavy but man it is loud as hell. Gonna finish this one up and use it at the neighborhood pool it should be great! :w00t: I'll take some pics once I start with the fiberglass.

Ok I made a video just gotta get it off the phone. but here is a pic with it painted. Working a smaller version. This one is called DBOX410 still needs a few tweaks. I'm working on a DBOX408 it's gonna be fiberglass so hopefully lighter. It is funny that my boombox is louder than the neighbor kids car

How many D-batteries does it take? :w00t: :w00t: :w00t:

It certainly neds chrome! Maybe Lasonic style speaker bars?
More silver knobs on it...maybe a small aluminum plate around the radio thing?
And: A handle! Oh, and dual antennas for sure ;-)

Looks great

Place it on the curb in your street and every time a car playing its crap goes by, blast it through the car to implosion, the kids parents will thank you.

Yeah the guy on ebay made me think Thats why i did the smile shape (to be different) also he has 4 6.5  weak. I just got the 4 8" speakers in yesterday . I think I might go stealth on this one no visible electronics and mount an ir to control the box. Also i'm gonna sink in the speakers to be flush with the box. I'll add some pics soon.
Car radio please I'm running class D amp running 150 watts per channel 1 battery I'm running 4. I'll be jammin all day and night.
