Hi all, I've got a guy at work who has a great condition CSC-850,fully working and good cosmetically. He's looking to sell ball park figure of £100 but I have no idea if...

1. it's worth it
2. How good a boombox it is(I mainly have sharps).
3. How much servicing will be required and how easy they are to work on and get spares.

Can anybody give me their opinions please?
Thanks.

These are usually pretty trouble free minus replacing the belts but these are a bad ass radio and really easy to work on. I think the price is fair so long as the basics are working.

I restate these are a kick ass sounding box and easy to work on.

Lots of bass and loud enough.
These sound awesome but are not as loud as the m70.

These don't just pop up everyday , I wouldn't call them rare but its not like you see them all the time.

Thanks for the info once again 👍 seems £100 isn't a bad deal then and I'm happy to take a punt on one.

They're very easy to work on. Front comes right off. They sound just as good as a GF-9696 in my opinion.

But, the strap supports are often broken during shipment, because the seller didn't leave enough space between the cardboard and the top of the radio. One good hit, and those chrome bars are getting pushed into the radio.

Also make sure it's the L model, it's better than the F model

Make sure there's close-up photos of the black blastic around the strap mounts, to see if there's any stress cracks.

Ha! A box of 850s
In 5yrs I've only seen 2 for sale here, both mine. 😁
Any chance you could part out a door? 1 was missing the metal face. Other one the plastic was smashed. It had a reasonably well thought out repair job done to it, but not fixable again.

It's the L model, whats better about it and what year would it be from late 70s?

I’ve no idea at this point. Can’t remember what state they’re in. Seem to remember I could make 3 good ones out of the 5. Trouble is they’re all boxed up in storage at the moment as I’m trying to move house so can’t even check. It’ll be a good while before I can access them I’m afraid

The L model has real metal knobs. The F model has plastic knobs.
Also, the L model has AFC and tape type selectors
