Really random as this morning I got back to it and it was working fine. I have cleaned the heads and all. I actually have the top deck
connected but not mounted, so I can easily adjust if needed. Now there's just a bit of tape hiss sound. Not sure if there's a common cause of that, but it could also be my old RUN DMC test tape worn to hell. I'm still estatic that I managed to pull off my first total belt replacement, and put it back together to see it actually work.
Also realizing the reason the tape door on the lower deck never opens all the way on it's own on this box, I'm missing the horizontal spring thing that mounts on the bottom. See below. Just saw that my other Conion has that thing to help it 'spring' open. Doubt I'm gonna find an extra one from a C100F, and of course I don't see a similar spring in any other boxes I have. If anyone has a junk/parts box with a similar spring, I've love to get it. Otherwise I wonder if I could find any thin metal like that and try to make one. Even just a random mountable spring on one side would probably do the trick.
I swear it's not rusty like this pic looks. Iphone 3 pic in bad lighting. Gross.
