Basically, I sold my KX101 and the guy thinks I should buy him a power cord because I DIDN"T say a powercord was NOT included. . . . . . :nonono:  :sadno:

Dear chip890,

Hello!
The casio arrived today - thank you for your
great packaging! Shouldn't there be a power cord
with it? There is none anywhere in the box.
Thanks

- taxidog5

Dear taxidog5,

Hi glad it arrived safely. There was no power cord included in the listing. If I had been including a mains cable I would have put that in the description and pictures. It takes a standard figure 8 cable. Many thanks

- chip890

Dear chip890,

The listing does not specify a power cord, you are correct. But it does state "100% complete" and since it originally came with a cord, one would assume 100% complete includes a cord.

- taxidog5

Dear taxidog5,

This is bit silly. It says 100% complete because it is 100% complete - (what you can see) Originally it came in a box, with a real manual, long speakers leads, batteries, foam inserts, and an instruction manual. Were you expecting those also ?

I think we have very different views of an ebay item description. I try hard to picture exactly what you are buying and also a description to match.

It's a bit like asking for the garage that the car you bought was in. It's certainly not my fault that you assumed there was a power cord, that was never offered, described or mentioned in the auction.

All the best,

Ben

Dear chip890,

I think the sarcasm is not necessary. I cannot see any pictures any longer as they have been removed. I do not agree that expecting a power cord is ridiculous given that you say it is 100% complete and you made no mention of it NOT being included but did say the tape deck does not function. I did not complain when two times I was told the unit was being shipped and it was not. I will research the cost of a replacement cord and will be requesting that amount be refunded to me. If I buy a car, no, I do not expect a garage. But I do expect a key.

- taxidog5

SO that's it so far... I was NOT even being sarcastic, just being really honest. I don't get why someone would EXPECT something to come with an ebay item that's not pictured or described as part of the auction. . . This guy clearly has his opinion and that's it, I'm wrong and he's right . . . . . DOH

I am trying very hard to remain polite and errr understanding, here's my reply . . .

Dear taxidog5,

I can assure you I am not being sarcastic in any way so please don't think that. I just don't think it's fair to blame me for the fact you haven't got something you 'thought' was coming with the auction. Something that was never mentioned or pictured in the listing. A simple question before bidding and I could have answered you straight away. It seems really odd to me genuinely. Even if I did have the original power cord, which I don't of course, it would be British plugged.

I'd go to the trouble of shortening a power cable to about 4 inches and then send him that.

Good luck Ben!

Rock On.

People can really suck sometimes, especially when assumptions are made...

I had a similar situation regarding a very expensive lens I sold on ebay and a "missing" tripod mount. When I bought the lens it did not have one, and I did not know it was standard accessory. So, I never mentioned it in my listing, nor did the buyer ask. After he gets the lens, the buyer claimed that the lens was useless to him without the mount and he was trying to bully me for a $150 credit! All the while, I saw where the buyer was bragging about his new, sharp lens in the dpreview.com forums.

I learned to be even more thorough in my auction descriptions from that experience....

Well the cock muncher left me neutral feedback and this message :

Q: I have purchased a new cord and it was only $8 so I am not going through the hassle of trying to get the money from you. But I did want to advise you that I did speak with Ebay and I was advised that electronic equipment is presumed to have a cord and I was not in the wrong for not asking that question, especially since you specified "100% complete". I completely expected to buy an adapter, just not a cord too. I am just telling you this for future listings because ebay told me that I would likely win a case if I opened one - I just choose not to.

I can only hope he is thick enough to not have looked at the GIANT picture in the auction which shows the unit as 240volts. . .

please plug it in and blow it up, I beg you lord . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Well, seriously guys. You cannot judge that buyer from this bit of conversation.
Anyway, I happen to know her and she is a bit of a newbie concerning boomboxes but this thing is a birthday gift for her son and so she really wanted it to work in time for him. She knew about the adaptor and she won't plug it in and blow it up (110 v cannot blow up a 240 v unit, can they?).
She is the one who helped me with urchasing the GF777 from China by the way.

So guys, really, you are mature enough to not call anyone a douchebag just because of some ebay messages :nonono:

That seems fair, Max. ;-)

However, your friend made the mistake of expecting something that wasn't listed. Yes, most electronics like DVD players, TVs, etc. have built-in electrical cords that can't be removed, but that is because they are not portable. She admitted that the listing mentioned nothing about a power cord and then became angry with Ben when there was none present.

Like we were mentioning earlier in the thread, the boombox originally came in a factory shipping box with a manual, warranty card, foam inserts, plastic bags, etc. None of those items were pictured either, but she didn't complain about them missing. It almost gives the appearance that she was looking to cause trouble. :-/ Even if that is not the case.

I would suggest passing along some advice to your friend... "If you are expecting something with the auction and it is not pictured, or mentioned, anywhere, contact the seller before bidding."

At least she's cool enough to buy her son a boombox.

I agree with FD, just someone making a song and dance just for the sake of
doing it ???
I know what this is like as a seller because i have had similar experiences and
in my book its B.S !

Its just a cord, and a very universal one at that !
Its not like it was missing a speaker or the handle ???
So how is it fair that a buyer can completely put aside things
like fast post, safe packing, nice item, good communication etc etc
and leave bad or zero feedback over one $8 friggin cord !
Seriously, if thats your biggest problem in life you got nothin to worry about !

MasterBlaster84

:agree: With FD and AZA completely, I think your friend may have overeacted to something that was as much her fault or more than Bens. She could have run down to any electronics store and bought a cord for less than $10 so this really wasn't worth getting worked up over. :nonono:

Bobby,

said buyer has asked me to remove this thread with the threat of breach of privacy and reporting to ebay etc . .

So I recon just delete it. I am thoroughly over this already !

Cheers for all the support though fellas . .

max --perhaps you are also new to ebay --
so you are forgiven :-) for not knowing THIS :::::

with the new ebay rating systems --a neutral feedback counts in the % formula
as identical to a NEGATIVE !!!

so --thats harmful to the reputation of a seller like ben -
who has provided honest listings , great service and beautiul boxes to HUNDREDS
of ebay customers

who else but a douooshabag would do all that ??

Fortunately neutrals are not calculated in feedback percentage. :-)
The score is calculated by the following formula:
(Positives) / (Positives + Negatives)
You can find this info under a user's feedback profile under:
[How is Feedback Percentage calculated?]

From reviewing the usernames posted earlier in this thread, you can see chip remains at 100%.
I am not saying that neutrals don't cast doubts from potential buyers. But it wont damage the score. :jason:
