I've never seen one with tweeters at the bottom corners of a box!
That is unique!

It came out clean! good job!
It is unusual to say the least and certainly adds to the character. There's also a higher model with a quartz clock sited inside the tuner window to the left of the tuning scale - I've got my eyes peeled for this one!

That's certainly a unique box and not just because of the low slung tweeters. I don't think I've seen such a small box have a proper internal chassis with separate front and rear cases before. It's certainly not the cheapest way to construct a boombox!

The deck looks like quality too. Congrats on a great box.

James.... :-)
Thanks, James. I took quite a few pics during the strip-down but I never considered taking pics of the stripped down chassis from every which way *sigh* but will do if I need to strip again! ;-) :w00t:

Many thanks, SLO. Although I found this box quite easy it still adds to my confidence building and understanding the thought & principles of design & construction of BB's in general.

The more I have tucked under my belt, the more I realise just how awkward and tricky the strip-down of my Hitachi TRK-8130E's has proved - I think these were designed by The Awkward Squad! (I still have one of these totally stripped down as an on-going renovation project to fill in a few spare minutes on odd occasions.)

These are great little stereo's & I am looking for a cheap one........£15 is the right price not £100 BIN on the bay :-D

Pretty much generic parts like the tape deck & speakers etc & these sold in large numbers around 1980/81

Could have bought a few over the years but each time there was something more tempting!! Now the boot sale turkeys think they are a sought after £100 boomer............they ain't lol

So simple to repair & restore - I will find one one day, this one has come out great & has the unusual case design on it's side too :-)

Spot on. A couple sell online and folk think they've gold on their hands but one in decent shape and at a fair price will turn up one day soon. There is also an all silver model but, to my eyes, it looks quite bland compared to the model show here.
