were all 'out there' in full force --
and in fierce//formidable competition..

Well, I have 7 out of the 11 Sanyo's you listed and save for a couple, I think I've got all the Sanyo's I want. And I do concur that Sanyo is a GREAT brand. Back then, even JVC didn't have much to offer as competition. But there is just something about those sexy Panasonics that just draws me in. AND Panasonic had a HUGE lineup offering back then -- I'm not talking about just boomboxes. Their electronics lineup was huge and they were a Big Big Brand back in the day. Of course I like SHARP too.

ira :agree: - imho you are correct sir- SANYO! followed by JVC.

then some love to Sansui and Lasonic, thin offerings but nice :-)

panasonic sure was the KING --
in terms of the quantity of models they made --
and they were ALL nice - with good quality-

but -- imho -- they had
'too much family'

ie --as many as 2 dozen pannys seemed to look and sound
within just 5% of each other :-)

so - sanyo had a much wider approach to their design goals

Around here, it's the SK-400 and ours have grills :w00t:

But sadly, I lost out on the only one I saw on ebay in 2 years.
