I love those 80's scooters, always wanted to do one.. But, aren't you a lil big for a 16" frame..?
Aren't the wheels 16 inch?

Cool scooter. Lovin' that little kick stand. ;-)

I had a Mongoose BMX with the plastic wheels back in the day. I broke a front wheel once on a home made concrete jump (too big) and had a huge endo - no helmets back then! I only got 2 chipped teeth, scrapes and gravel rash, and got my balls caught up in the goose neck. Oh the fond memories.

James... :-)

^ hahahaha, nothing like getting your nuts caught! Ouch!

Yes the wheels are 16", the frames aren't really called 16" like the bmx bikes are. Its strange to find these old scooters with such a big wheel size. I think most are 12".

Its turning out great and I also like the little kickstand .

Yes the bleaching helped whiten them a little. I still scrubbed them with a scuffing pad while I was rinsing them off in the sink. The scuffing pad worked really good getting the dark spots and brake pad black marks off.

This scoot is really pimp! All done for now. Just waiting for my new white brake pads and orange valve stem dice to show up

Really nice job Joe!

I didn't know that kind of use for bleach... ...maybe works for rear cases of boomboxes... ...or some kinds of rubber?.

Cheers.

Thanks!

Yeah, maybe you could use bleach on boombox cases too. Only problem is that it dries out the plastic and you need to spray it with WD-40 after you bleach from what people have told me.

This might be a very rare scooter, more rare than I was thinking. Most 1980's scoots were 12.5" wheel and there were some "top of the line" scoots with 14". No real data anywhere that a 16" wheel scooter existed until the late 90's-current. I think there is a L0885 date stamp on this frame which tells me it is either a '85 or '88 build scooter with 16's!

I'm waiting for more info from other scooter guys, but this could be a gem :w00t: :dj: :vespa:

Or, soak chrome parts for 24h in a solution with 300ml of water and washing soap powder.
Some Collectors of vintage audio equipment down there do that for aluminum panels with excellent results.

Cheers.

Joe, that thing came out AWESOME MAN!

I totally want one now too. My brother had one (he is 9 years younger than me) and I stole and put it in my bands old tour bus. Every time that bus stopped that thing would come out. Hotel parking lots, gas stations you name it.

We jumped the heck out of it till it broke! I have video of it somewhere.
