Here is my 84' Mongoose Californian with my restored Hitachi TRK 8190H. Back together again after all these years. The goose started its life as red and chrome when I raced it then I changed it over to white when I got into freestyle. All of my kids have used it as their main bike at some time before they grew up. I bet I can still do a rock walk with it if I tried....

Not only have I never owned one, I don't recall ever seeing one either despite their popularity. Some things in life have just passed by me. *sigh*

i used to have a nice bmx bike but i never intended to use it so i took it to the dump, ended up giving it to some kid as i was taking it off my truck , the kid was happy as hell and i was happy because it was to nice to throw away . i know it was worth a few hundred bucks but i didn't care and just wanted it gone . it had every feature a bmx bike could have , even those pegs on the front and rear to do those railing slides . it was bad ass but i'm not into bmx . anyway just goes to show that kid at the dump was destined to get a free bike lol. oh and i got it originally from my buddy who had bought it for his son but he was cleaning his garage and asked me if i would haul it away with some other stuff but i could not bring myself to throw it away with the first batch of junk so i kept it for a while. and the kid was with his dad unloading junk from the truck parked beside me so i just randomly asked the dad if they might want this bike and the dad instantly said yes! . he also added that he really could not afford one for his son and they had actually been looking for a bike . goes to show how things work out sometimes , i could tell by the beat up ford ranger they were driving that he was not well to do so it went to an actual needy person. and that damned bike musta sat for a year or more before i decided to chuck it . i won't give it to the little basterds where i live but the people at the dump deserved it .

Awesome story Floyd! Just downright awesome  That kid must been happy as hell to get that bike from you man, Im so glad it didn't end up in the pile of trash, and that it ended up in a kids hands that actually appreciated it! I can't help but to be curios of what make and model that bike was that you were gonna trash Lol, it was probably my holy grail of bikes! That young kid will forever remember that one day at the dump with his pops, when some man gave him a bike. Its good to see a kid actually appreciate something these days. Great job bro

thanks man, can't remember the maker of the bmx , all i know is it was the heaviest bmx i ever saw , i was too poor to own a decent bike when i was a kid so i really don't know much about them . my bikes were always cobbled together junk heaps lol. my friends had nice bmx bikes , mine was like an old stingray with the bananna seat lol.

can't even find out what model the bmx was but the one in the pic is the closest to the way it looked , not exactly the same but close .

That was my story as well. I had a close family friend that raced and was sponsored by Hutch and had 5-6 bikes.

My bike was like yours Floyd, it was the heaviest "BMX Styled" bike, called a Rampar. Weighed a ton, It was a steel frame painted red, I put what ever left over parts I could get my hands on. I was so jealous. So one day I just remedied the problem. :-O

I was hanging out at the SUPERCADE arcade, (circa 1981) a kid rode up on his brand new Redline, he left it on the ground and walked in and I rode off, problem solved, for about 5 days!

I striped and painted the Redline RED like my bike, put my cranks, wheels, and bars on it and rode it to school Monday morning

AND.....as it turns out, that PARTICULAR bike belonged to a police detectives kid :bang:  :dunce:
A-----RESSTED! :annoyed: Walked off campus at the end of the day in cuffs, 8th grade!

I was the "Bad Ass" for the next 5 years :hmmm:
Sadly, I also lost the Rampar in the process. :-/ Never heard or seen that bike brand again. :'-(

But I got a sweet Beach Cruise now, are we allowed to post Beach Cruise pic's in the BMX section  ?

mine was different , it actually had extra steel tube like rails on each side of the top frame rail , it was a medium metallic blue similar to something you would see on a car from the 60's , it had anodized blue rims , the top frame rail was more oval than round and very wide , the frame was the same basic shape as you would expect but the top frame rail was very wide and oval with added steel tubing that followed on each side of the top rail . that damn thing was a tank .

*I went ahead and changed the topic title to "BIKES and BOOMBOXES" just in case there are some guys or gals out there that have other bikes besides BMX or Freestyle. For example a Beach cruiser, chopper, stretched, lowrider, hell even a unicycle! If you have a pic you wanna share of a bike and boombox, please feel free to post it and share with the community, THANKS!*

This beach cruiser is a cheap Chinese made bike, but it looks good and rides fine.

I pulled all the factory stickers, did my own pin striping and added back a few stickers, including a small boombox sticker. I added the horn so people will get the fark out of my way, a light for night time liquor store runs and a cargo box for my tools.

Of course staged with the Lasonic TRC 920 :D
