I Am Legend
oops -- sorry for the delay |-) |-)

have been in a semi-stall ...
as it now seems like i might have exaggerated the ultimate significance
of this story -
and placed just a bit to much BS as to my own importance  :sadno:
--------------------------------
so here then -
is the more modest account of todays event ::

first of all --about 10 MILLION folks per year (seems like 50,000,000 --traffic is wicked) :-O :'-(
come down to visit florida -
and not even one of them would travel any mammoth distances to view my box collection :-)

however --i knew my most distinguished guest had planned to be down here--
from new york city
staying nearby --so i invited/insisted :-D
that he stop by to check out my stuff---

he agreed -- he did --we had a great time -
drove the entire hood in my golf cart -
waved at some groupee hotties-- :w00t:

talked boxes --
and planned to meet soon again for some serious box photos :-) :-) :-D

the dude is none less than the very famous author/photographer ::
LYLE OWERKO !!!!

great guy and a true box collector for life
---------------------------------------------

3 local 'no-name unmentionables'
barged into this picture -
but the guy in the center , with the black shirt
is the real one and only lyle
(wonderlust on this site)

he asked me if there were any other florida collectors
worth visiting -
i said "nope"
:w00t:  :-P

Okay I can't hold out any longer.
It has to be either Michael Garret or Metad. I'm leaning towards Metad because of his superior knowledge of boomboxes and how he always nows everybody else is wrong.

Don, this is by far the most hilarious post of this forum

Well Ira hasn't denied it yet. :hmmm:

one pic? with all that foreplay you lead up to 1 picture?? I was expecting pictures of your guest wading thru stacks and stacks of boomboxes in the storage unit, maybe lifting a few up lots of smiling, maybe some trades taking place?? and all you give us is 1 picture!! Is your geritol not working anymore and you forgot where you put the camera????

I emailed this Lyle guy a whiles back because I seen in one of his photographed boxes that he had a Token Entry band sticker on a boombox. Token Entry was a NYHC band in the 80's 90's in NYC and I used to skateboard with Timmy Chunks, lead singer I believe.

Wanted to know how he aquired that sticker and if he knew Timmy personally or not. Never heard back. Oh Well!

Awesome, Ira!! Fantastic stuff!

Lyle's a really stand up guy and I'd love to meet him one day too.

He's a very busy man and doesn't post much on here, but he's certainly a true Brother of Boomboxery.

Rock On.

and he said he was going to up there to visit james very soon

so - bill send him or james a PM --so you will know when/where to
meet them

----------------------------------
and i forgot to mention a matter that actually will be
cool and important to some of us -

his major box product is a super high quality hardcover
photo book --
100% classic boxes --
plus stories about collectors . memories , etc

Right on.... very cool, Ira!

I woulda liked to have met him too. That book sounds very cool. I'll support it by getting one of those.

He should come to one of our meets.
