Best sound quality box with medium size speakers?

They look fab Rory, get that bombeat 40 on show lad, only tosh i have is a 3 piece with 4 woofers...hr o1 or 753 i think it is, totally love it mate :-)

The thread starter was pretty specific on which boxes sunshine. Have another gander at it.

Thank you guys for all input. Please keep in mind I was specific into 16-cm speakers or smaller, also only boxes that have 2 loud speakers, so that CFS40 or SK-900 are not counted here.

I believe Toshiba 9990 and Crown 950 are both 18-cm speaker boxes, right?

So far those box have been mentioned above:

Sanyo 9994/9998
Aiwa 950/955/660
Telefunken CR8200 (look similar to Sanyo 9994, are they the same box?)
Quasar GX-3661 (the same box as Panasonic 5600, isn't it?)
JVC 390EN (someone please post a pic of this, since I found no information on google)
Universum 8800
Silver ST-858
Toshiba ??? that one next to the 9990
Lasonic 920

More opinion please, how about Panasonic, Sharp, Hitachi, Sony.

Same box as mine, but with a soft-touch deck. Wonder if it has the same amps. Mine had weak bass.

^ Thank you. Really nice box. See it in person before but got confused because those toshiba series is not easy to recognize.

Sorry but I have to drone on again :-D The Sanyo M9996 :-P Very underrated & very good sound which, for a mid size stereo really is extraordinary.................It goes loud too if you want it to!!
I can't say enough good things about how it sounds - To work on, a pig but so rewarding to own one that has had very little use :-)
I f**king love it :-) More people need to hear her for real, I think they would agree it just sounds so good!!

Sorry to dig up this old topic but I guest I've found the best one piece boxes with two loud speakers smaller than 16cm (6.5 inches), based on boxes I've owned or heard

- The best: National 7200
- Second best: National 7700
- Third best: Sanyo 820

Runner up: National 7000, Sanyo 9994

I don't think I've ever heard a box of all size with sound quality that match the 7200.
