The KENWOOD DC20 is the King! This boomer with additional amplifier pumps bass like no other!
Roberto, do You have a pic of this model?

Yes here are some pics of mine and the dutch leaflet....the suitcase that belongs to it is sadly missing..the thing costed almost 2000 dutch guilders way back in 1979...and that is a lot of money even today..(about 850 euros)

When it really comes to BASS as a criterium...

BigBen
Aiwa 880
Lasonic 931

I would count the RC550 too as it has very nice bass imo

Of course the bass king is the infamous M90 but it's quite pricey sadly

Older Kabooms pack 52 watts rms. ... 52 RMS I have yet to find any boombox that can meet that number! The newer kabooms are only 40 watts RMS ..a noticeable difference compared to the RV-B90GY against the RV-NB1 the NB1 went out (sold it) as fast as it came in.

Panasonic RX-DT707/909. Not only do they have killer bass, techno-surround,dualcassette decks, MASH CD player, Bi-Amped......it cranks when you need to punch sound out!

I've got to say the Panasonic dt680 is my all time favorite. It picks up that low growling bass with ease. For example the pedal lows of a pipe organ come thru very impressively on it. I've yet to hear a box that does that as well, not even the kaboom ( both old and new).

The key note of the topic is "Bass for the Buck". There are some expensive babies on this thread. There are a slew of others that certainly fill the bill at much less cost. As with anything related value for dollar, it won't meet the lofty levels of a Studio 1, ISP-SC800, or Pioneer CK series.

The above noted, I would say that you could snag a Kaboom at reasonable prices and many single piece units such as the GE Blockbuster/Realistic SCR-8 twins that can give you satisfyingly rich sound at reasonable listening levels. :-)

Well I don't think anyone's gonna top my FH-808R then. That one was free. Telefunken is another story.

The Hitachi 3D-80 has a good bass to buck ratio.

Best bass for the buck are the Panasonic and Sony 3-pieces. I am talking Ebay prices. Everything else you guys mentioned will cost more.

Bass for Buck means Cheapest Price, highest output....

Some great radios listed above, but dollar for dollar....I just don't think you can beat the Lasonics...I see $120 931 (they are beat up). But if you can deal with some missing parts and a function switch stuck on input, I think that can't be beat

My personal "best" is my Panny RX-DT707. I got it on the cheap as part of a deal on another box. I had no intention of keeping it until I powered it on. I guess it's not for everyone, but if you have the chance, it's worth a listen. Very feature-packed, too.

Totally agree, Reli. The Panny DT series 3-pieces certainly do thump.

Your looking for Bass. The 3 piece boxes that come to mind is the Fisher PH480 and the Telefunken Studio 1 which to me has the best bass response hands down

:agree: I've got quite a few of the aforementioned boxes and the Telefunken imho is the nicest sounding bass in a box that I've heard.
