Nice job on this .
I love it when someone gets a break and finds something nice for a bargain price. You didn't waste any time sorting it out.
I'm jealous because I missed the boat by not buying one of these .

Now, that's what I'm talkin' 'bout! Fantastic job!!

I would imagine that the wrong "color" is just nicotine staining. I believe member @Gluecifer posted a thread some time ago on how to repair nicotine staining. Search for that when you can.

NIcely done! The handle's plastic has anti-flammable brominates that break down over time. This video at the 16:15 mark (link) demonstrates the process. There are variations (search the term "retrobrite") but this way is good because it evenly covers the part in water and only needs hydrogen peroxide and some sunlight. Summer is a great time of year to do this because you get stronger light.

Thanks for the info. I have some peroxide steriliser that I use when I'm making beer. Maybe that might work.

I totally agree with Superduper.

I think it will look nice with a wider strap on it if you cannot find the original handle.

The original handle is a simple light gray color I mean a can of spray paint and a few coats of clear should match up nicely.
