Actually it did not bother me that my DiscoLite was missing that little "Audiovisual" sign on front. The only thing that bothered me were the extra holes in the grills . The thing was The "Discolite" sign was still there and so I could not just put a laminated paper with a print-out over the holes because it would not fool anyone's eye.
So I though a long time of the best possible way for an average boombox collector like me and came to the following idea:
I cut out a little piece of black plastic and fitted it according to pictures from the forum (thanks, guys!).
Then the hard part began. Cutting all those letters in the correct font from golden adhesive foil (correct me if there is a professinal term, I used DC Fix if you know that brand). After about 2 hours of work, I was done and attached it to my discolite with double-sided glue tape.
This is the result:
To be honest, I am mroe than pleased. It clearly is not the original but it is pretty damn close. I was not able to emboss the letter, I ahd no idea how to work that out. But other than that it does a pretty good job there .
I wish I could reproduce these for all members in need of them but it was not a fun job to do . Sorry.
Well, you got the recipe and a piece of black plastic should be availible in any house hold .
Good luck!
