Gordie, everyone who knows what I collect think I'm nuts too but it's my passion so what they think doesn't really matter. In fact in many ways I agree with them, I am nuts for collecting all these boxes. :-D

I don't look at what i put into this hobby...but more importantly what i get out of it...and to me that's what's MOST important :-D .

:agree: I'm not collecting boxes for the money, like you I'm collecting to satisfy something that money alone can't and it's working for now.

I've got about 45 boxes now and the 'when's this going to stop?' question has been popping up by more and more people.
I keep telling them I have list and as ones get crossed off others are added so it's not going to stop any time soon.

Space is becoming a genuine concern now... but that's certainly not going to stop me buying.

I don't think any true collector stops at a point they preordained. It seems counterproductive to having a good collection, but everyone's different and has different ideas I guess.

I'm sure there reaches a point for most of us where we're contented with the collections, but not to the point of saying 'enough' as that means it's the end of collecting. I think we go through collecting and then refining, and the refining of our collections should never end!

Rock On.

Gord, any collector can be considered nuts - not just us. Whatever people collect - coins, art, boomboxes - we all are *strange* - and girls like that in guys (well, maybe)

Gord, let me clarify - girls do like collectors - but usually the guys who collect art - Da Vinci, Rafael and such - but most definetely not the guys with boomboxes

Hm, i think it´s in the eyes of the different people.

For exampe: My parents, company workers, "modern thinking" people,.... just think i´m crazy.
Collecting electronic trash. :-/

But there some other friends.
Most are younger or little older as i (~25 - 40)
Patrick is 28, house electrican of a hotel and really loves my boxes. :smooch:
Most of the interested people have a technical job, so they can understand me better. :-)

so gordie, just look for the right friends to make a party. ;-)
My first one in the new residence is just done! :breakdance:

I don't give a f##k about what people think. :hmmm:
Some people collect empty coke cans or stamps.
I saw an auction once . 5000 € for a stamp. A little piece of paper
Who is the biggest nut ?
Let everybody do what he wants to do. :breakdance:

well i have my own collection of about 60 boxes it may seem crazy but i firmly belive we are not alone on this there are people that collect all sorts of precious stuff from tv radios telescopes binoculars i mean just about everything,, see it this way if you notice as soon as you started to collect you started to be interested in the boombox works what componets were used how it was put together parts that were used and notice each box was constructed very different and that each company after careful inpection will notice that each company built multiple boxes even in the same year just to add all kinds of bell and whisles just to atract consumers so there is lot to learn about the boomboxes in general, so collecting boomboxes is just another facination that we as humans learned to love and take at heart.................

Gordie I am a beginning collector as I only have 10 boomers, but I am searching for the next deal on a daily basis. My current passion is for customizing M70's...I wouls love to build a wall of 30 different customized M70's but my wife would never go for that. I have told her 10 would be my limit and I can think of another 10 I already want...I have the bug...so what do I do???...must find a good hiding place in the attic..
