ATTENTION UK MEMBERS!!!!!

I’m going to throw this idea out to start the discussion…

I want to know if anyone is interested in “UK BLASTER MEET 2017”

This year I have some big travel plans, which include the Dessau 2017 meet in Germany August 17th, the Old Audio Fest, Minsk, Belarus (September) and I would like to add a meet up with our fine UK members!

The goal is to also cover all of these events for Boombox Magazine.

So, in order for me to be able to do this, I do need to ask for a little help. Due to the cost of airfare, I’m wondering if there might be anyone that might be able to help me out with transport from the airport and possibly a couch to crash on? If so, then I could go from there on where to book a flight to or where to get a hotel if need be.

The southern end of the UK is most cost effective for me.

I have ordered a hard-shell Pelican flight case to house my TRC-920 for these travels so I can have at
least one radio with me!

Please let me know your thoughts if we can make this happen.

Dates, locations….members who are interested.

Hi Chris,

How's life in Italy so far? :-)
It's going good, we're getting settled in. It's been a real learning curve for sure.

So, any other UK members interested in Cranking Up?

Hey Chris,

I am south of England but very very south of Cornwall so probably a bit out of the way, however if its an option you are more than welcome here to stay. I will travel to wherever the meet is though, be great to meet you

Due to a recent promotion work for me is extremely hectic though so let us know some dates near the time and i'll get some time off work booked. Looking forward to it

Thank you T-Ster,

I guess we need to figure out what dates would be best for everyone (since we have the topic going now). What do you all think?

I was also thinking about the type of meet.

In the past, with many meets around the world we have seen (as with last years Las Vegas meet) a room was secured and 2 metric tonnes of radios were trucked in! I will say, from doing that more than a few times. That is a lot of work.

As an option, someone could suggest a cool "Blaster Friendly" location and we strut our stuff with one radio in hand. Of course the more people we get together, the more radio's will will have. IMHO, the highlight of Las Vehas was walking with our radios on the Vegas strip.

I'll tell ya, the idea of meeting with you guys and cranking some radio's is just amazing! After meeting many of the mid west US crew last year and getting together with the northern west coast crew and along with my regular so cal buddies in Las Vegas, meeting with the UK members is simply wild.

So lets hone in on a date. Is there any ideas?

South UK, looking at Stansted airport location. I have no idea how it is to move around that area. If members can get near that location easily. Please advise.

I think a rented venue etc would be great, especially as you could bring multiple radios and possibly do a bit of buying/selling/trading, but as Chris said this does require a fair bit of leg work.
Possibly just meeting up in a blaster friendly area and having a bit of a walkabout may be better and easier to arrange.
As far as walking about with a radio is concerned, and to avoid everybody bringing the same box, I will probably bring my Goldstar tsr 800 as a 1st choice, Lasonic 931 or Rising 2020 as second choices.
Whatever we do I will probably be arriving by train so I can have a few beers

I think a blu-fuz strap may have to be ordered before this happens.

Depending on how far it is I might turn up in my camper/ambulance so I can bring several boxes and wild camp somewhere :-)
