So, while on my trip I was searching for boxes....I hit many thrift and antique stores to no avail...BUT....

Before I left to go to Illinois I saw a new episode of American Pickers, the episode where they go to Sturgis. During this episode, the girl Dani that runs the store is talking to Frank and Mike on the phone in the shop, and behind her is a Boombox.

So, while on my visit, we crossed the Mississippi into Iowa and went over to see their store "Antique Archaeology" and sure enough that Blaster was still there for sale and it still is. They wanted $125 for it and I just didn't want to drop that much cash for it. It's a Sanyo, was all complete with it's battery door, but the antenna tip was busted off. Below are some pictures.

It would have been cool to have a radio that has been on the show, but it was kind of beat up and dirty and there was no power cord to test it and for that kind of money, I just had to pass. It's still there if someone wants it!

Yes, it was windy!

Yeah, between the band and family. seems like I'm never home...2013 will only bring more....it's wearing me out...

For $20 I would have been all over it....I damn near bought it, just to document that it came from there...but that was just too much

Wow!! Fantastic, Chris! I really enjoy American Pickers.

But, of late I'm loving the Canadian version, Cash Cowboys, more. And that show has a lot more 'background blasters' too.

Rock On.

That is way cool, Chris! The Sanyo appears to be an M9935. That model was my very first boombox back in '83.

Danielle is hot and seems like she would be cool to hang out with.

I've always thought she was Hot too  I would've at least asked 'Danielle' to pose with it for a Boomboxery pose  I'm amazed at how many American shows are broadcasted abroad to other countries. Rick, do You Aussies have an Austraian Pickers version too?

They are located at 115 Davenport Street, Le Claire, IA 52753. I think that is mid state :hmmm:

From what I saw when I was there, they don't deal  There were two girls working the counter and some people were asking questions regarding another item and they made some comment that the marked price what the PRICE!

Hahah, not yet.

We have one channel here on Foxtel (our ONLY pay tv service) that has a channel called A&E, not Arts and Entertaiment like the old cable channel, but Action & Entertainment. The one channel has all those pawn shows, the pickers shows, american restoration (which i love), all those 'hoggers' shows, all the storage/auction shows and Mountain Men and Duck Dynasty, which are my two favourites.

Heres some hot background blaster action from Cash Cowboys:
