Aiwa CS-660 custom birthday present

Hmm. tabe deck belts are sloppy and no longer work to play a cassette. But I have no flat belts that fit and the birthday is on saturday! What to do? I know! put the flywheel in my drill and spin a channel into it using my hacksaw and my files, to fit a thin square belt that is the right length. I replaced the spindle pulley too of course... Then adjusted the cassette speed slightly to perfection!

And it works perfectly..
The finished unit - chrome knobs and switch tip and chrome automotive decal strip to complement the black... chrome protector bar below the cassette deck... I think she'll really like it! Now to put together the early new york rap/electro mixtape!

Too bad you're not in the States. I have a bunch of flat belts, but Boston to Tasmania is a mighty expensive "overnight" for a belt.
I like square belts, anyway. I don't wonder if the thing is walking around on the flywheel after I button it up.
She's gonna love it. You'll probably get a little "somethin' somethin' " too!

Scotty may be a purist but for me, I think the grills give that box some serious street cred. & I love the look. Everyone has different tastes but for me that resto is KILLER!!! Great job & if your EX doesn't like it, she's crazy.

Same for me Scotty, but I did it to suit her tastes and pull the heart strings as well - the artist is an old friend of ours from when we were together
And she freakin LOVED it!! To the point of screaming! So it is a success! I just hope she gets time to use it soon... I made her a cool mix tape to listen to on it!
