soo should i tryy and cop it?? or noo

If I thought I could steal it for $100, I would. The last tecsonic MX-900 sold for $300. As for the noise issue -- I know of NO big black boxes that have robust reliable decks. Just know that it is, what it is, and if you want a reliable and robust tape assembly, I suggest you go with something else. But for flash and appeal, this one looks good on the shelf. I know I've got a bunch of these stupid ceramic/crystal dragons in my display cabinet I paid $300 each for once upon a time from the franklin mint. In retrospect, I'd rather have a bunch of $300 boomboxes displayed in there, working or not.

I don't think your going to get anyone to tell you directly to buy it but the wealth of knowledge is really saying if it's worth $100 to you that's all that's important. Just keep in mind the information in this thread about the build quality and not to expect the tape deck to work.

After reading all these post's and knowing what I have bought because I wanted something BIG, I know that after words I had "buyers remorse".

What I did learn however is that if I had a $100 to spend and I held onto it a little longer, then the next thing I knew, I had $200 and then $300. I'm starting to sound like your dad huh!

The truth of the matter is,..

With out a line in, your seriously screwed if the decks don't work or stop working!

Big doesn't mean power! There is a very good chance that thing will distort if you push the volume past 3-4-5. I know your thinking "No way!" but there are lots of radios like that.

No name radios just don't cut it in those regards.

I honestly would say, go to the Boom boxes & Parts for Sale or Trade section and look up those 20/20 boxes Sinister is selling that someone already mentioned. I have bought from him, he's a reliable source.

At least there you will get a box that's a performer and if you get one from him that has the deck working, then your in business, plus those have a line in (Correct Guys????)

You can do some research here on the sight, just search 20/20 and you'll find some threats. The 20/20 is BIG in dimensions too!

Good luck!

I agree, no line-in = up **** creek with no paddle. He is also right on that the box will distort before you even get to a volume level that is solid and sounds good. Though that bbx is big looking the speakers seem to be no bigger than a 6.5" or so.....

If you really like the looks, you'll fix anything this thing has broken and then you'll have fun with it, that's what it's all about, having FUN!
I think nobody here will tell you to get it or not to get it.
Lemme put it this way, it's like waiting for the perfect girl to show up... NEVER! :w00t:

:jawdrop: Say it isn't so, I'm still looking for her.

Your right stranj no one is going to tell anybody what to buy or not buy but they will provide recommendations to all of us based on experience. That experience simply says this is a cheaply built box that won't perform as big as you would expect, plan on the tape decks being dead and the lack of a line in means it will be more difficult to connect other media players. With that in mind if you still want it go for it.

I for one hope even these cheap boxes survive for a very long time and for that to happen someone has to want and covet them. :-)

And I hate lasonics and the like but there is a huge gathering of followers for this brand and others. All are similarly built so just keep in mind that while there are many people who shy away from these, there also exists many many more that loves these. Get it if you want it. Just understand that each brand/model has their own idiosyncratic issues of pros/cons whether it's quality, looks, price, or whatever. It is, what it is.

If Chevy users qualified their purchases by first asking Ford users what they think, no one would ever buy one (and vice versa). Get it?
