Sorry to hear that Jimmy !
I've only had 1 Chinese box and it was a 777!
But it took 7-8 months to arrive but it was in like a washing machine box!! :-O
Luckilly no damage!

I'm sure with your helpers here and some parts you'll get it going 100% again!!
Good luck with the restoration! :-)

hey max ....I think these boxes were taken back buy the manufactuer back in the day due to the problems that the service centers could not fix..because each and every one has issues with output or a bad board or two...so rather than fix the manufacuter replaced it probbaly for cost reasons.so all these went back to them and they were stored awaiting refurbishing or sold for parts who really knows...one of my 777 had alot of issues no balance would not record no stereo light..etc since being serviced my tech was able to repair but it was alot of $bread to fix ....so the moral of the story is i will never make this mistake again
In my experience, the majority of sellers are dishonest about the condition of their box..........or they ship like crap........even if they're a collector

So I don't think it matters which country it comes from. The risk is the same.

Hey Jimmy, really sorry to hear about this!
I've had a couple of boxes get damaged in shipping but luckily nothing
to serious.
Sometimes when your really upset it's best to let a professional with
alot of patience and skills take over!
I've been tempted to do some destruction before but luckiy I refrained!
Good luck with yours-I'm still needing 2 speakers for my 767 and
a couple of switch caps (using 777's instead until I find the 2 replacements)
Yeah Jimmy it's worth it -the 767 is darn rare!!!
Have a good week! :-)

in my years i noticed that the sharp gf 777 /1000 /767 /999 get smashed more than any other box .

it's because these are so big and heavy they are their own worst enemy when it comes to shipping them .

prolly the easiest box to ruin in transit from place to place .

when i got my first gf 777 it looked bad enough in the auction pic's but when it finally arrived it look like a herd of buffalo's did the river dance on top of it ,not a pretty sight .

ok got some good news to report....just got the box back from the shop it now fully works   but it is still a little ruff,,,as far as the crack in the casing i glued it back together ...I waited for that to set up over night so today it looked pretty good so now i began to fill the hole in I reinforced the back side using a plastic card and jb weld on the inside as far as the outside i put a thin layer of epoxy on the outter cassing so far so good ...radio is fully torn down the back got some special treatment to ..it was cleaned sanded washed again dryed , primed and painted this afternoon here are a few pics.
