Is that a combination in/out DIN?

Mine is way too soft, but my in-only DIN's are fine.

Well, my experience is limited on the DIN side of things but for most blasters, if you plug your source into the Line OUT by mistake, you can still get a somewhat muted but still usable input to the LINE-IN circuit.....not sure why but I've done it with the M90 & 777, as well as a couple of others, by mistake & got the same lower signal on line in but more flat & muted...

Same with the DIN socket on my AIWA. My DIN adapter has 4 RCA's, 2 for input & 2 for output & I was using the wrong pair at first & it sounded flat & low, even at decent volume levels....so if you guys are buying DIN adapters with only 2 RCA's or a single stereo plug, it could be wired to the wrong pegs, you never know & are using a LINE-OUT only DIN....

Just a guess but that would fit more than the theory that somehow DIN In is less sensitive than an RCA connection, all other things being equal....It just doesn't make sense unless I'm missing something. I doubt the guts of a European version vs US/Can. would be much different beyond the power circuit & transformer, for the 120 v 220 voltage differences at the plug...

Also, I remember a thread where I told another AIWA owner to switch pins on his DIN adapter & the difference was a vast improvement in both volume & sound quality. He was wiring up his own adapter & was working off the wrong 2 pins...

Interesting. I have a GF-9090 that uses a DIN, never got it to work.

So, did some testing with the GF-9090.

I can get it to record on tape through the DIN plug, but it will not play music through the speakers while it does it.

Perhaps some of these aftermarket cables are wired incorrectly, to the wrong pins.

Well guys the din cable has arrived, and I have just tested it and it sounds fantastic  I played some electro funk via my mobile phone, and the sound from this Hitachi is so sweet. It doesn't have tons of bass, but enough to satisfy, great highs and goes really loud. Overall I am very happy with the quality, a lot better than I imagined it would be :-)
