Really, all the work is on the cad design which you can do at home on Tinker cad

And then go to the library to print it
You'll have to post of some pics/vids of you doing this if you ever do. Really interesting stuff.

Just googled for prices of 3D printers. I thought they cost too much for someone who can't profit from their use. It turned out that I was very wrong, and that they don't cost more than many other tools people have and use rarely, like electric drills etc. See for yourself. They are really affordable, especially those that can print only smaller objects which is actually what boombox collectors really need for replacement knobs, sliders etc.
Perhaps it would be good idea for boomboxery owners to get one, and offer printing of parts as a service. An invenstment that would payoff itself trough one or two orders, and than just keep on briniging money thus increasing popularity and visits of the site. The need for the replacement parts will exist as long as collecting exist, and who has the better knowledge and possibility to 3D scan and copy part from original one?

The technology moves so fast these days. I felt like they were barely coming into the mainstream a couple years ago and now they're in libraries?! Wild...but an awesome idea! I'll have to check our local library.

GOOD NEWS!

I found a website called http://www.thingiverse.com/ where people are creating all sorts of things.

AND KNOBS are on the list! Someone has already made Lasonic TRC-975 knobs and you can download the digital information and take it to go get printed!

There are all sorts of knobs that you can customize and then take to get printed!

Go to the site above and search knobs!

ONE STEP CLOSER!

Has anyone printed full front yet? I mean 3D scanned and than 3D printed?
I‘m already having crazy ideas about designing a mutant bbox consisting from best design details picked from several different bboxes, and combined in one.
