It's amazing, isn't it, how little people who aren't into this hobby know about these things. Absolutely boggles the mind! Still, you gotta feel warm inside when you experience such generosity and a sincere desire to please. Just keep telling yourself, "It's the thought that counts, it's the thought that counts..."
